| Please can anyone help me. I went for the first of a course of 6 MD formulation peels on Wednesday. Piror to this I've been using the MD Formulations Adult Acne Kit. What I wanted to know is what I should expect to see after the first peel! I experienced some blotchiness, and some dry patches. The facialist told me that I should expect that things may get worse before they start to get better - is this true? I would appreciate anyone who knows input. Thanks |

Results/reactions depend on the concentration of the peel, but's it's not uncommon to experience redness, swelling, or sensitivity. The deeper the peel, the greater the irritation.
AHA peels range anywhere from 20% to 70% in concentration, and are considered superficial to medium, respectively. If you had a low percentage peel, then you should see minimal irritation.
Since you said you are going for a series of six, I'm thinking that you are getting a low percentage, but with the overall aim of acheiving the same results of a deeper peel as the cummulative effect. That's a common regimen to help reduce iritation.
You may notice 'purging', as skin layers are rapidly exfoliated with an AHA.
What you're describing sounds very normal. You'll notice improvement as you go along.
