Can someone tell me the difference in effectiveness between a product that states that it is a 'lotion' and a product that states that it is a "Moisturizer".. Which of the two is better? cause i thought a product that states that it is a moisturizer pentrates the skin further more than lotion.. |

I think lotion is more watery, meaning it's mainly targeting oily or combination skin type. |

I thought that a lotion was a moisturizer.
Creams and lotions are the different mosturizers though, creams are more concentrated. Creams are typically water in oil emulsions and lotions are oil in water emulsions. Although, cosmetic companies won't strictly advertise their products within these definitions. Generally, something that is a cream will be more rich than a lotion and a lotion will be more watery than a cream. |

yeh I believe lotion is a lighter formula, it feels watery when put on skin and glides better. The cream version is usually for dehydrated and dry skin and has more oil in it. |

that can get confusing actually. over in asian, they call toner "lotion", and what we think of lotion (in the states at least) is actually moisturizer.
did i answer your question? or did i confuse you further? |

I agree with dealated- 'moisturizer' is just a category of lotions, creams, serums (hyaluronic acid for example), etc., all for the purpose of skin emollience. |
