Hi all,
I've been reading with interest the many posts here about sunscreens/blocks and have not yet found anything which directly relates to my query. However, if I've missed it - then please feel free to point me in the right direction.

I have suffered from acne/pimples for many years. I'm 35 now and had perfect skin until I was 20! I'm now using a combination of saliclylic acid and glycolic acid to keep this at bay and am aware that I really do need to use proper sunscreen/block especially whilst using glycolic acid.

Can anyone recommend a sunscreen/block that I can use with the glycolic acid and which won't cause further pore blockages?

There isn't a product on the market containing both of these ingredients. However, if preventing acne is a concern, you ought to use an oil-free sunblock. Some to consider: Peter Thomas Roth's Ultra-Lite Oil-Free Sunblock SPF 30, Oil-Free Sunblocks SPF 20 or 30, or DDF's Sun Gel SPF 30. Cool

I definitely feel your pain. I had adolecent acne, adult acne and I am sure that I will have geriatric acne!! I used Origins Silent Treatment for many, many years will no problems what so ever. I recently switched because the Origins is SPF15 and I wanted something higher. I switched to Shiseido Extra Smooth SPF 33. I have been using this for a couple of months now without any irritation. I hope this helps you.

By the way, my face is now clearer at 30 than it has ever been in my life after I started using a combo of Skinceuticals and Cellex-C.

Thank you both Caspers Mum and Abejita,
I have made a note of the products you have recommended and will take a closer look at them to see what I can try first.

The reason for this query is that I was told some time ago that I should at all times wear sunblock if I am using glycolic products. For ages I walked around with a very pale looking face from the sunblock - not very attractive I can tell you.

I had been told by a skin care specialist that the sun reacts with the glycolic acid and can permenantly discolour the skin - do you know if this is true or just an urban myth?

Since I shall be going on holiday soon to a sunny location I am anxious to make sure that I can enjoy the sunshine but be properly protected despite my glycolic products. So a big thank you for your recommendations.

If you do have any more to add concerning the glycolic acid and sun - I would of course be pleased to hear from you. Smile
