Ok first off the subject here is kinda touchy. I seek advice from those of you that care to leave feedback... I am trying to produce a lotion for my partner who has found an expensive product that she loves. In Australia it costs Au$18 for 2mls tube. there are other similar products she has tried but this works. It is important to say it is used on an extremely sensitive area.
The product works by allowing L-Arginine to be absorbed into tissue to produce vasodilation. It is an opaque lotion with the following composition: 12% L-Arginine, 1% L-Histadine, 0.5% Niacin, 0.15% Peppermint Oil.
My problem to date has been trying to work out what base or carrier the lotion uses. The lotion arrears to be an emulsion - and I think a light essential oil and a surfactant are used to produce this emulsion - any ideas on how to get the water soluble ingredients into a lotion with excellent dermal absorption? |

Have you checked the forum over at skinactives.com? It's a diy site and they have a variety of base creams and serums that are lovely. Some are best for water soluble actives, others are oil based.
They answer questions very quickly and frequently, their product list will tell you the best base for the particular active in question i.e look up L-arg, etc.
Good luck ! |
