I had an appt with the Derm last week and even though my rosacea is mild they were surprised by how long my face stayed flushed just washing it with Purpose liquid soap to remove my makeup. Besides saying to take a break from actives Sad she gave me a cream to use (Metro something I believe) and an RX for Oracea. Now my skin is feeling more irritated and not sure if it is just because the cream is not moisturizing although I did put a gently (LRP Rich) over it because my skin felt dry after applying it. Has anyone else had this reaction? Or any suggestions for me? I was using Skin Medica Vit C, Kinerase, Avene Ysytheal, and Remergent and didn't feel like my skin was irritated by any of this so was surprised by the reaction in the office. HELP! Thanks.

Hi marie
you probably were given metrogel, a common prescription for rosacea. I have been using it for 12 years, and it has really helped me, but I know others who say it made their skin worse or didn't do anything. I'm not familiar with the other medication you mentioned.

This is a cream form but still very drying. I called the Derm and they just called back and said to discontinue until my skin settles down again and then try every other day on half my face so we know if this is what is causing the reaction. I don't go back until February and hope that I have great looking skin then and they will be impressed with what I have done to make it look better. Hoping to go back to Actives soon.

Hi, I too also had mild rosacea on my cheeks too. This past march I did a 10 day master cleanse which cleared up all my rosacea. Now I am happy to say I havent had any signs of it returning. I am going to do a yearly cleanse just to make sure it doesnt return. The cleanse cleaned my body out of all the toxins that we take in each day. I think this could have a lot to do with the Rosacea. I know some people may think I am crazy but I truly believe this cleanse cleared up my rosacea. I tried the metrogel and everything else you could think of. Here is a link about the cleanse, it is a book, but you can find the book in its entirity online without having to buy it. http://curezone.com/books/best/book.asp?ID=342

Smile HI there, just wanted to share - I am a RN and my ex father in law is a Dermatologist - quite a bit ago he gave me the Rosacea low down - he told me that rosacea is caused by a mite - Demodex Folliculorum -that inhabits the sebaceous glands of everyone's skin. He said it is the excrement of the mite that causes the symptoms of rosacea - some people don't have many, or aren't sensitive to the mite and have no symptoms - with others it is the opposite. He explaines this is why most medical treatments focus on sanitizing the follicle etc - hope it helps you,Cleanses are wonderful - I agree! Amy

Hi Marie, I don't have rosacea, but I do have extremely sensitive skin and cannot use the LRP Toleraine Riche, for some reason it makes my skin burn, I posted about this a few days ago, trying to find out what was in it that was giving me the reaction, someone mentioned maybe the high concentration of the PEG-100 in the ingredient list, but I don't know, I just stopped using it.
Anyways, I've been having better luck with Avene's skin recovery cream, it seems to be helping to clear up the irritation the toleraine riche caused, hth!
