Prevage is brillant just need a pea-size amount and massage well into face and neck you will notice the difference instantly and your skin will glow. I use Elizabeth Arden really expensive but worth it. Its not a moisturizer though just goes on under never tried the other product it might be just as good or better |

I broke out horribly from Prevage MD but others have had better success with it. My derm said that is very common, about 1/2 and 1/2 to have a reaction with this product. |

Well, I wouldn't call it brilliant. I use the md version & it does add a nice glow but I haven't noticed anything major happening..although I like the glow. |

Hi red head - First of all, I hope you're using a good sunscreen, especially if you really are a [natural] red head It's a risky photo-type! My sister's a red head and has never used SS. Big mistake -- she looks a lot older than she should.
Prevage is supposed to be a very good anti-oxidant. But from what I understand, the SkinCeuticals product is superior in that respect. I prefer its texture, use it every day and keep it refrigerated. I didn't like Prevage when it first came out -- it felt sticky, balled up under my makeup and clogged my pores. Maybe the newer version is different. It's supposed to be a more potent formula but I don't know if the texture, etc. is the same as the original. Some forum members like it and the difference must lie in an individual's skin type.
I think it's not always easy to see the benefit of anti-oxidants if your skin is already in good condition. In instances like this, sometimes the only way you can tell if it's working is by noticing that your skin looks better with it than without it. In the case of skin that's already photo-damaged, it may even take a year or so to see significant improvement. You've got to hang in there!
I've been doing some research on Vit.C serum because I've considered making my own in order to save money. For now, I'm not going to attempt it. I've discovered that formulating a beneficial C serum is extremely problematic. I thought it would be simpler! If done incorrectly, or combined with ingredients that can degrade the already highly unstable l-ascorbic acid (most beneficial form of C for the skin and very photo-protective), it can turn into an oxidant -- and I don't want that For now, I'm continuing to put my faith in SkinCeuticals. |

Can you buy Skinceuticals' products online? If so, what's the website please? I know it's not Skinceuticals' own website! Thanks. |

I have been using the Skinceuticals Vitamin C+E+ferulic serum for about a month. My skin tone is a bit brighter, but I think that this is due more to other products that I am using. This is okay with me because I am using it as an anti-oxidant to prevent skin damage moreso than to get rid of any existing wrinkles. My only complaint about this product is the smell--the odor is a bit funny when you first put it on. Someone else on this forum called it the "hotdog" smell and that is exactly what it reminds me of. The serum feels a bit heavy when I first put it on. It takes a while to sink in. I initially assumed that this was unavoidable because of the vitamin E. I have since learned that the Candessence C+E+ferulic serum sinks in rapidly and does not smell like hotdogs so I am looking forward to trying the Candessence product.
I bought samples of the Skinceuticals VitC+E+ferulic for a reasonable price off of eBay. Given the cost of the full size product, I'm glad that I did this. |

Hi lefemme - There are several websites that sell SkinCeuticals products. If I were you, I'd just do an Internet search. My salon even sells it, so there may be a local vendor in your area.
As far as the hot dog odor for SkinCeuticals CE+Ferulic, I've read that remark before on the forum and wondered because it's never smelled like that on me! It smells "medicinal" on my skin. I have to say that just about every treatment-like product I've used has had either a benign scent or has even been a bit stinky! I wonder if the addition of fragrance to treatments is avoided by many manufactureres because of sensitivity issues? Some people have trouble with scent like lavender, etc. which can irritate their skin. |

I found it very pore-clogging, and it felt like there was a ton of silicone or something in it. Just very heavy on my skin! |

Hi there,
I spent a long time looking for a good antioxidant product to use everyday and especially while flying (I'm a flight attendant), and I considered Prevage/PrevageMD for some time before a MakeupAlley veteran convinced me not to.
As a side-note, MUA members voted only 38% would buy Prevage again.
Here is an exerpt of the review by Jennifer36 which is very informative:
"The company that makes the main ingredient in Prevage (idebenone) used to sell idebenone to the company called Isomers too. (...)Isomers called the cream Idebenone cream. The company that makes the idebenone cream said to isomers that they needed to charge more money for it in order to be fair to Prevage. Isomers was charing about $39.99 for a 2oz bottle. The people at isomers said no and dropped that company. Then they created this.Isomers Carnosine+ Antioxidant Complex - 1oz An even better antioxidant than pure **IDEBENONE **. Independent laboratory testing shows that Isomers Carnosine+ Complex is over 250 times more powerful than pure idebenone (an analogue of co-enzyme Q-10) as an anti-oxidant. (Carnosine+ Complex is a patented pending proprietary complex that belongs only to Isomers Laboratories)."
To read the rest of her review, go to MUA and search either Jennifer36 or Prevage. (EDS is not letting me as a newbie post the link)
I purchased the product by Isomers (CComplex) and I have been extremely happy with it, and at $39.99, it didn't break the bank!! And like i mentionned above, my job is a free radical NIGHTMARE, and I'm so happy I have found this product.
Sorry this was so long...I get a little excited sometimes!
Hope this helps, and hope it saves you some $$$$$
steffers
p.s. let me know if you want me to start a new thread about this |
