For the most part, my face is very dry and needs instant moisture right when I'm out of the shower. But, my t-zone is very oily and I can't seem to get rid of these tons of blackheads and mini pimples! When it comes to face wash, I'm having a hard time finding something that's gentle enough to moisturize the dry parts of my face but at the same time the right amount to get rid of my oils/blackheads/pimples. As i get older, the amount of oil on and around my nose increases. I've tried to use Philosophy's Purity all over my face, and then the proactive system just on my nose and my inner cheeks but it has not removed the blackheads/made me even MORE dry.
How can I get the blackheads out?
Do you have any product suggestions for my skin type?
thank you, loves! |

I feel your pain. I also have seriously oil/seriously dry skin in the winter months and am attacked with both pimples and clogged pores and dry, rough, flaky skin at the same time.
I know this is kind of a funny suggestion, but Clearasil's classic cream cleanser has always worked to balance out my skin. I think the formula (cream) helps keep it from drying out my dry spots, while the bacteria-killing agent in it helps fight zits. I also rub a drop or two of jojoba oil into my damp skin afterwards to lock in any moisture. I've found that using acne treatments tends to just aggravate things so I generally don't use BP unless absolutely necessary. I think that sometimes the breakouts I get in the winter are due to aggravation more than anything else, so I actually try to keep my skin as moisturized as possible.
I also have found that using AHAs and BHAs regularly (I switch off nights) helps to keep your skin clear. You can just try applying these to your acne-prone areas rather than all over. I've also had great success with the Clarisonic skincare brush in terms of getting rid of the very obvious blackheads on my nose.
And drink plenty of water! Clears the toxins out of your system. |

Dr Hauschka's cleansing cream works wonders for me. I use it only around my nose daily and I've noticed a big change.
Also, when it's warmer out (so for me, not winter time ... this may not be the case for you) I like to use Dr Renaud's Intervention Fluid Base moisterizer. It's a really light cream that doesn't contain any oil and I find this works well for keeping my oily facial area under control. |

I second the use of the AHA or the BHA. Some formulas, like Jan Marini's Bioclear has both acids in it. |

Hi!
Blackheads are a common problem for those with dry skin. It may be that a nice gentle hydrating cleanser and exfoliation will get rid of them in a few weeks.
Ironically, overdry skin can also become oily due to blocked pores or overcompensation of the skin to produce sebum due to the dryness.
When I started using the Ice Elements creme cleanser, anti-aging serum, normal to dry moisture lotion and 2 minute miracle exfoliation gel my skin started to balance out and within 3 weeks I could see a dramatic difference in it.
My blackheads were concentrated in my nose area and my forehead was flakey but also oily... Now it feels and looks normal.
Take care.

I like some of the Ice Elements line but do love my Dr. Hauschka Cleansing cream and the decleor Ylang Ylang oil. Those are two things I can't give up. I am using lots of Ice Elements stuff now and they have a nice foaming cleanser. |

I do, too!
Once all the cream is rinsed off, I rinse a few more times with cold water. I think it helps... |
