Stop using the Murad products! Your skin is telling you that they're too harsh. Use a gentle cleanser, like Cetaphil, and a simple moisturizer if you need one. Buy a hydrocortisone cream from the drugstore (generic will do just fine) and apply a thin layer on your skin for the next few days. Your redness should begin to subside. Don't use the hydrocortisone for more than a few days.
If you want to try the Murad products again, start with one at a time and use for a week before introducing another item. |

SharonJ, I certainly wouldn't use those products again unless you can figure out which one caused the reaction. In addition, you'll probably have to give your face a few days to recover. The only thing I can think of to use would be emu oil or jojoba since they are healing. Good luck. |

I agree...you don't want to treat the symptom, you want to get rid of the cause!
If you are experiencing burning you should stop using Murad and try something gentler for awhile and see if that helps.
I love Yonka Gel Nettoyant cleanser, great for oily/acne prone skin yet still gentle on your face! |

Hi Sharon, lot of good advice here already just wanted to add my 2 cents. I have been using the same Murad products as you are for nearly 3 years now but had a similar experience when I first started this regimen.
After meticulously using the Clarifying Cleanser, Acne Exfoliating treatment gel, etc. twice a day within the first week I got all of these tiny little red bumps on my neck and forehead.
I reduced the usage to once a day and stopped applying all these products [except the moisturizer] to my neck.
The redness was gone the day, then I slowly worked up to using the acne treatment twice daily. I've heard some people call this the purging process. I'm not sure if I agree with that or if it's just your skin telling you to SLOW DOWN!
If this doesn't work for you, then definitely switch to something else! I've heard some have had very bad reactions to Murad acne treatment and am just glad I'm not in that camp since it's made my face clearer than it's been in years.
Good luck! |

Thanks for all the advices!!
I think Clarifying Cleanser is ok but not sure about the other two.......
My face is less red now than it was in the morning and i used natual rose gel to hydrate my skin and apply yarrow & comfrey moisturiser afterwards..
however, somewhere on the face where exfoliated yesterday now turned into brown(just like burned by sun)..................and touchs so uneven and fake........ is that an early sign of exfoliation again or......my skin will then stay in that color......
I will stay away Murad product anyway.....and I have ordered PTR products hope they wont do the same thing on me........... |

SharonJ, maybe worth trying some cucumber slices all over the redness, leave on for as long as possible.
they are very cooling.
I hope it goes away soon for you. |

Oh Sharon, I am so sorry to hear this - that sounds like a very extreme reaction to this product; likely the exfoliating acne treatment gel is too harsh for you. Please tell me you bought this at a good store so you can get your $$$ back... Or you could try to exchange it for their moisturizing acne treatment or anti-aging acne treatment instead.
Yikes, usually when my face gets oversensitive I'll drop on some lavendar oil, witch hazel or aloe vera gel but I wonder if these would cause you more harm than good... |
