Apologies for the influx of Emu questions from me but I'm new to emu. I just received my EDS package with my Dremu oil and can't wait to try it tonight. Gonna start out once a day (in the PM) and see what my skin's reaction to it is first. However, my current daytime routine now is Vit C powder mixed into Dr Hauschka's moisturizing cream, and was wondering whether Vit C powder can be mixed into emu? Any help would be appreciated. |

To be honest FaithHope a lot of us believe these powdered Vit C's are a waste of space. You really need to deliver C at the right acidity level and it's quite hit or miss if you just bung the powder into any base you like. If you search for threads about Philosophy Hope in a Jar you might find some of those discussions.
The above is definitely true for L-Ascorbic. Not sure whether the other C's would be beneficial delivered like this because they need a neutral base. |

Yup I'm very aware (I visit MUA often too) However, being hyper sensitive, this is the only form of Vit C my skin can tolerate. I've tried serums and even the low % ones (5%) irritated me and broke me out. So until my skin gets used to higer % of Vit C, which it might not ever, this is my only option. |

I'm not sure if you're talking about L-Ascorbic or the C esters though?
Plus - did you see recent talk about SkinMedica - seems a growing number of people who couldn't tolerate the acidity of L-Ascorbic nor perhaps the PG can use that happily. |

It's Ascorbic......... m have heard the raves about SkinMedica but am afraid to try since silicones tends to break me out. On a side note, I just applied my Dremu but am having a hard time getting it out of the dropper/bottle. Could it be the weather thats contributing to the solidness? |

It's the weather - just run it under the hot tap for a minute. Best to decant a little if you're going to do that or it'll go off quickly.
You should really try the C-esters then. They're in a neutral base and much more tolerable. There's the Triple C over on DY or Skincarecentral.biz or the Alphaderma C+C here on EDS. I believe the silicones in the Skinmedica are water soluble and some people using it get acne easily so I imagine that's not a problem. You could ask TheresaL, Lin23 or Marina about it. |

Faith Truth, hi.
I'd like to ask you what your experience is of the Vit c powder mixed in with your moisturiser.
Do you feel you are getting benefits from it, and if so, are you able to pinpoint what they are?
I've used the philosophy vit c powder mixed into moisturiser before and I felt my skin was smoother and brighter and younger looking from it.
But when I read that it doesnt really work I wonder if I imagined it... |

I guess you would get a little bit of benefit because your skin contains water and the mantle is mildly acidic - just a guess though |

Certainly, as Molly said, the Philosophy powdered Vit C and the Dr Sebagh one both did very little for me. Serum versions, on the other hand, seem so much more effective. |

Yes, now that I know a bit more, thanks to this place, I wouldnt buy the powder again, I'm sure serum is so much better.
I just wondered about the degree of uselessness of what I'd spent my money on ...
Probably Molly has hit the nail on the head. |

I reckon if I'd saved all the money I've spent on skincare products that haven't worked over the years I'd be able to afford a facelift by now ! |

I know what you mean - it's crazy to even consider how much I've spent on skin care over a period. I must admit the Vit C powder is not giving the effects normally people using serums get, but it's really the only form of AA I can tolerate. When I 1st started using it, I had brightening and evening out of skin tone - it was quite miraculous for me, however I over did it and got irritated, now the effects aren't really escalating strangely but I'm just sticking to it cos it's better than nothing sigh the perils of reactive skin |

Ditto! Maybe even two facelifts, or at least a facelift and a tummy-tuck! |

Update : I tried this yesterday and no allergic reaction. Don't know if it's me, but the Vit C seemed to have more effect mixed with this. Will continue experimenting and update if I get any adverse reaction |
