I know it is not romantic at all, but i dont expect any surprises from my husband, i just dont trust his taste, and certainly i dont want him to waste money on luxurious products. he usually buys me expensive jewlleries and designer purses but definitely not my style, so now i made it clear to him we have to shop together for my and his gifts. Sad(((

No, I think it ruins it. Last year he got me these gorgeous princess cut diamond earrings, colored too..and then white diamonds on teh outside, absolutely melted me when I opened that box. Thank goodness his mom set it up for him Laughing . They know a jeweler so I was lucky. He sent various pairs of earrings to his house and he chose one.

I would but he's afraid to ask Laughing

I'm a big believer in getting people something they really want so I get specific lists from them.

It may not be a surprise, but I'm a complicated woman. Wink It's so much easier on both of us if I just let him know. Smile

I know exactly what I'm getting from my H. He hates shopping and so I asked for something he can order online.
I'm getting the box set of "Pie in The Sky" - a BBC series that I love.
Razz
He does do romantic things just not at Christmas time.

We try to do the list thing too, although the past two years we've gotten eachother new cell phones. Not very romantic; we both go to the store together, pick them out, put them on the account (which is under my name) and then he just pays me back for whatever my phone cost. One of these days I'd love to be SURPRISED. Smile

DH knows the stores I like so he gives me a g.c. to one of those so that I can choose what I want. I love that. I don't know which store it will be, but I know I will like what I get. Very Happy

OK, you guys are going to totally hate me for this... (prepares to duck the rotten fruit being thrown), but DH has the BEST taste in jewelry! Often he knows what I'd like even better than I do. In the family picture I posted, the jade bangle and the blue topaz earrings I'm wearing were both gifts from DH...

My fiance and I drop hints to each other. After thanksgiving neither one of us are allowed to buy any "toys". Before we made that little rule I might buy something for him that I know he wants only to have him go out and buy it for himself. Rolling Eyes And every year he's able to guess exactly what I got him. So, I guess his hints work. Although, he claims I have him stumped this year. Every year for Christmas he gets me an Elsa Peretti (sp?) necklace and earring set. Although I don't think she has anything in our price range for this year. Believe me, I've looked! So, I have no idea what I'll get this year.

I like the UK clothing brand Monsoon and my boyfriend (who's now my ex) knew that, so for Christmas he bought me loads of clothes from Monsoon and brought them over to Thailand during Christmas. However, they all turned out to be size 14 when I'm a 6-8! He ended up having to take all of them back and exchanged them and sent them to me by mail. Instead of being happy he bought me clothes from my fave brand, I ended up being upset he thought I was 3-4 sizes bigger than I really was!!!

I always buy things for myself and tell my man how much it cost and he gives me money back.I know its not romantic at all, but we have to be careful with money so its better if i get something that i really need than something that wont fit properly or is useless.

Mostly I tell hubby what I want for my main present & quite often I buy it myself & get the money back. This year it's the BQ. He did suprise me with a laptop 2 years ago that was an excellent choice & I didn't know about it.

He buys me extras and they are normally great but he normally takes Natalie with him & of course she is in Aus this year, so who knows.

Then I have a birthday a week after Christmas this year & for that I am having a small tv for my sewing room, so I can work & listen.

He always gets suprises from me though. Surprised

I'm reasonably easy to buy for I think - if its something for the horses or something from my current Beauty regime I'm happy - Mind you I drop HUMUNGOUS hints when we are in a shop or I see something in a brochure 'Ohhh that's nice' etc. I also love perfume and jewellery - he always manages to choose sometting I will like.

Very Happy

I know I was so shocked - I never normally win anything, couldn't believe it when I saw I had a PM from Magda this morning - had to read it several times and then the thread before it sank in. Have had a yukky year so this has given me a real boost - can't wait to get it - a lovely start to the New Year! Very Happy

EDS is the BEST forum ever isn't it? Very Happy

Hope everyone has a lovely Christmas and New Year.

Last year, I asked my fiance to log-in to my EDS's shopping cart and made the purchase! I think that was the only time no surprise involved.

Other times, I usually give out some hints like I really want a dark handbag...I do like good surprises and most of the time my fiance knows my taste pretty well Razz
