I am going NUTS trying to organize a nice vacation for my parents and us ... we are celebrating mum's 80th birthday in June and I want to take them to the Whitsundays for a week.
Well, I just found out that the Port of Airlie construction has started which rules out staying at Airlie Beach as planned, so I was thinking Hamilton Island, but dont know what accommodation to choose.
Anyone here ever stayed in the Holiday Properties there or the 1 bed apartments?
Feedback most WELCOME! |

Tiger, are you kidding ??? I stop talking to you !
Hamilton is paradise on earth. Unfortunately i spent only a day there (i slept on a sailing boat), some 5 years ago - but i still dream about it sometimes ... Bushy probably could tell you more. |

DH and I stayed in a Palm Bungalow just over 12 months ago but that was our personal choice as I wanted to be "away from it" if you know what I mean.
All the accommodation looked pretty good but it is a very personal choice. There is a ton of info on the internet so have a look there. Here's a start:

I would have suggested Airlie (my favourite holiday place ) but didn't realise about the construction
I've been to Hamilton Island a few times but never actually stayed in their accommodation. It is a very nice place but it is also very touristy and there are heaps of people that come over just for the day. So, it really depends on what you and your parents prefer. My personal preference if I were to stay on an island would be to find a secluded one where you get just the resort and no masses of visiting people, which also rules out Daydream Island.... |

well, ma announced that she was "not much of an island person" so Hamilton got the bye bye before i could even show her the villas.
In the end I settled on a BEAUTIFUL 2 bedroom apartment up at The Pinnacles Resort at Airlie Beach. It is set up in the hillside, so away from the construction noise (thank goodness). I booked through a private owner rather than using the resort managment and saved $200 a night!!
The place is so beautiful AND they have and Endota Spa on premises!!!!! Guess where I will be heading each day?! Endota also have their own line of goods too... says no chemicals and no petroleum, so guess I will be bringing some home. Such delicious names as "fig and sugar cleanser", "lilly pilly and vanilla bean body moisturizer", "bush honey and macadamia skin drink" or even "kakadu plum and ivory clay face mask". Oh my credit card!!
Now I am all set! Air booked, accommodation booked, car booked. Hmm, I better get into shape for this glamorous trip! |

tiger_tim do you ever use tripadvisor.com?
It has reviews of The Pinnacles on there. We actually never go anywhere without checking out that site first and the last 4 places we've been to have been exactly what we wanted. |

Hi Sarah, I could only find The Pinnacles for the Caribbean, not Whitsundays...
But, funny enough, I actually used to review for Trip Advisor when it first started up - god, that must have been 8 or more years ago. I cannot even remember what I reviewed now or else I would look myself up. |

I have actually seen the Pinnacles and you are going to love the swimming pool. I didn't realise they had a spa but it sounds gorgeous. |

I just love the fact that the huge Lanai/deck/balcony has not only sunlounges and dining but a huge 4 person jacuzzi!! And I have already chosen what I want from the Endota spa menu! And am going into training so we can go sea kayaking for a day (I need some shoulder muscles to do that ... ) |

I hope your balance is good for the sea kayak. It is ok once you get your rythum but it can get a bit wet sometimes. |

well, I guess I survived dog sledding without falling off, so maybe I can balance in a kayak - though getting in and out will be a challenge. I am not really known for my coordination... |
