By nature, I have oily skin. I am currently using cetaphil (non-comodogen) lotion. Most lotions feel as though it doesn't absorb fully, and leave a film on, very cakey, no matter how little I take. It feels like it can't breathe.
My aim is just leaving my skin balanced and hydrated while absorbing into my skin, while letting it breathe without producing excess oil.
I've searched about aloe vera gel on google, these forums, and many others, and have come across people who say that it will pretty much do what I am looking for...
... meaning, that it will hydrate my skin, leave it balanced, and absorb into my skin without feeling cakey, while letting it breathe.
Is this true? And is it alright to use it as a light form of a moisturizer after washing?
Thank you! I appreciate the responses I've been looking into this deeply. |

I've found that aloe vera gel worked great as a light moisturizer for me in the summer when my combination skin is a lot more oily. It's worth a shot since the stuff is so cheap and can be used for other random household things (like soothing burns) too.
Try getting the purest kind you can find, though. I like Lily of the Desert, though that's not 100% aloe vera (that kind has to be refrigerated) |

Thank you, this sounds pretty advantageous! I can't wait to try it out, it seems like the perfect solution. |

I'd use oils if I wanted to balance my oily skin, leave it moisturized while letting it breathe. In the summer I'd go for a less moisturizing one like Decleor's Ylang Ylang, but my skin is not oily anymore so I'm using Dr.H and that works well - but it's winter so I use a moisturizer over top.
I can't use Aloe Vera - I know it has a firming action of tightening up the skin but for me it tightens it up WAY too much leaving my skin with those tiny lines when I smile. And Aloe makes me feel like there's a mask on my skin due to this tightening effect so I don't like it. |

I agree with sormuimui's description of how aloe works on my skin. It makes my skin look almost dehydrated so it hasn't been a good solution for me. |

Thank you all for your responses, I think I will definitely try it out and see what happens first hand since some people enjoy the feel as opposed to not.
Thank you all once again, you are all amazing! |
