I want to try to limit the number of vitamin bottles I have to open each day, so I would like to know what other people are taking that are affective? Currently I take Pycnogenol, Hyaluronic Acid, N-Acytyl Cysteine, Fish Oil, Calcium (w/ D), Alpha Lipoic Acid. Sometimes when I remember I will also take Vit C and E. I wonder if this is too much. Is taking too many vitamins and supplements bad for your liver? Should I spread out taking these at different times of day? Thanks!

LOL Lucy, it sounds like by the time you're done taking vitamins, you'll be so full and won't have to eat anything else! I used to take about 20 different vitamins a day, but I cut back a lot. I really got worried about my liver though I don't know if it's warranted.

I buy the hair pill at walmart a 30 day supply is $5,I dont know if it works because you have to wait a long time for hair to grow and of course I think I read about it here and just HAD to have it.It takes me a long time to swallow pills so when I am on my 30 minutes commute to work I am swallowing pills during my commute!

I take a multi-vit, calcium, chlorella, Biocell HA, green tea, and a probiotic every day, with a milk thistle once a week. Once a day I drink my dragonherbs tonic w/ OJ after working out. It has 71 green nutrients.
Then I drink a gallon of water paced thru the day and a glass of red wine at night.

I think that you're taking a good selection. I would add a B-Complex. I take mine in the morning with breakfast.

Personally, I don't think that supplements are bad for the liver. Most of them are antioxidants, so I think that they would help the liver rather than hurt it.

Thank you , Tam. I appreciate your reply regarding whether taking a lot of vitamins is bad for your liver. My sister thinks it is. She limits hers to just 3 different kinds. She is a firm believer of Pycnogenol, which is why I am trying it. I don't know if it does anything for me. Anyone else takes Pycnogenol here? What do you think of it?

I've been taking daily:
Multivitamin (Jamieson Vita-Vim)
B-50 complex
C-500mg
E-200IU
Glucosamine/Chondroitin/MSM (for osteoarthritis)

Recently added:
CoQ10-30mg
Grapeseed w/ Resveratrol
Borage & Omega 3 caps

And a morning cocktail of green tea/fruit juice/yogurt w/:
1 scoop of Green Source powder
6 gtts of BioSil (silica)
1 T of ground Flax
Sprinkle of Lecithin

Would like to add HA caps but think I'm eating enough supplements Laughing

Question: are some of the above utilized better when taken at different times of the day or w/ diff foods?

TIA

Regarding the issue of supplements over-burdening the liver.. the quality of the supplement is really important too, many supplements I used to take were made from chemically derived vitamins/minerals and I had major issues with absorption. If you have a healthy liver it does not tend to be a problem, but for people who may have a weakened liver for whatever reason, they can be quite sensitive to a bombardment of nutrients which are synthetically derived.

I take -
Multi (mineral/vitamin/phytonutrients)
B complex
Protein
Milk thistle & dandelion complex
Flax oil (with guaranteed Omega 3 content)

I've cut back on HA and silica supplements because I seemed to have an allergic reaction to them. Otherwise, what I have been taking now has me feeling the best I've ever been.

Question: are some of the above utilized better when taken at different times of the day or w/ diff foods?

From what I have come across -
1. magnesium and calcium should be taken in a 1:2 ratio respectively to help absorption and to avoid deficiencies of each mineral
2. iron and calcium should not be taken at the same time (minimum 30 min interval)
3. iron and vitamin c taken together improves iron absorption
4. B complex vitamins should be taken with any protein supplementation to prevent the protein from being converted into energy, instead improves the conversion to amino acids for cell repair
