Hi ladies,
I have heard so much about the Eve Lom Cleanser and the Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish but don't seem to find a review of Eve Lom on EDS. I have seen that people put it in their top 3 product lists, but haven't actually read a full-blown review. I am sooo close to buying Eve Lom, nevermind the price, because nothing seems to work on my skin. I have acne prone skin (I think it's hormone related) that's sometimes dry, sometimes oily, blotchy, bumpy...just a mess all in all.
Oh, I'm also about to get married in 3 weeks, so I'm pretty desperate.
I've been trying philosophy purity, neutrogena acne wash, green clay, neutrogena extra gentle cleanser, organic DIY oat meal scrubs, aspirin masks - nothing works. The aspirin masks made a little bit of a difference, but I have to use it in the AM and the PM and I think my skin is getting dried out and irritated.
My skin has never looked this bad in my entire life. Great timing, eh?
Anyway, so since I read so much about Eve Lom being lots of peoples' HG, I thought I'd give it a try. But of course I am scared it'll break me out even more, or would not be suitable for my skin type/condition. Can anybody help?
I would prefer an all natural product like Liz Earle, even though Eve Lom's promise of not needing any toner or moisturizer after their cleanse is pretty enticing.
Has anybody used both products? Which one do you prefer?
What was your skin like before? Broken out or pretty good to begin with? How has it helped?
Any help is much appreciated!

I have tried Eve Lom and Liz Earle and they are both quite different. For me Eve Lom is like a balm, oily type cleanser, which although has a lovely smell, I actually found it a little bit of a dull job to use, as its a lot of work, you really have to work the cleanser into the pores, and then using a warm cloth, you polish it off the skin along with the dirt, and then you finish with a cold cloth (rinsing the cloth in cold water and applying to the face).
Liz Earle is a lot lighter, and a better cleanser in my opinion than Eve Lom, and it has a lovely fragrance, and goes on nice and lightly, but also has a polishing routine similar to Eve Lom, but it would get my vote more than Eve Lom.
But a cleanser which I love, love, absolutely love is Sarah Chapman's Ultimate Cleanse, which is a balm in a dispensing tube, which not only smells fantastic, but it seems to really clean my skin without over stripping it, but somehow moisturising it at the same time. You also don't need a toner after that one either, and whilst it seems pricey, I there are are a lot of natural ingredients in it which are skin friendly! |

Penta.
Congratulations on your marriage!! There are so many products and I don't have a lot of familiarity with the two you mentioned. I think the Eve Lom one is very oil based. I would suggest not over washing your skin, using a mild product for now, letting it settle down and if you know of a very good facialist having the right facial for your skin type at least a few days to a week before the big day. or seeing a dermatologist. Enjoy your special day no matter how you feel your skin looks.

I wouldn't advise making any changes so close to your wedding day. Anything new added now might make your skin look even worse.
If your acne is indeed hormone related skin care products won't really help anyway.
My suggestion would be to just continue with your current routine and get your makeup professionally done for your day. |

Thanks a lot for answering, guys.
You are right, Josh, I probably won't experiment before the wedding, especially because I am slowly starting to clear up. For after the wedding, though, I really need to find a good cleanser. I refuse to go back on the pill
TheresaMary, thanks for letting me know how you got on with them. I am also leaning towards Liz Earle, just because it's more natural.
We'll see.
Oh, and harriet, I just moved to Chicago from London, so I don't know any good facialists here
I'll write a proper review if I end up checking out Eve Lom, though. I've heard SO many good things about it.
Thanks again |

Eve lom cleanser is much better than the LIZ. Although the liz cleanser is LIKE the eve lom, I still think eve lom is the best makeup cleanser I have ever used. So gentle and very deeply. |

This is only based on your experience though. I found for makeup EL was far too oily for me and its got some sort of ingredients in that some people are scared of, but LE is much more softer, but its deceptively soft as you don't think its doing much, but I found that it didn't lay heavy on my skin like EL did.

I bought the little sample kit from Eve Lom to try out the cleansers. It only comes with 2 tiny pots of cleanser which goes really quickly. It feels like vaseline when you put it on. While I like the cleanser, I don't think I would purchase a full size of it. It is nice, but there is a whole process that has to be done and I just want something quick! |

I use the Eve Lom cleanser. I don't do any special routine, I just rub it in then take it off with the Muslim cloth and then rinse a couple of times and it seems to work for me. I don't get any residue. I can't compare it to Liz Earle because I've never tried that one but I like the Eve Lom cleanser and feel like it gets my skin clean and clear. I'm curious about the Sarah Chapman one now. |

Hi jom,
yeah, me, too. I already looked it up.
So, did you have acne prone skin to begin with? Or was it pretty clear? do a lot of products usually break you out? |

Hi Penta,
No, I don't have acne prone skin, it's normal and I don't get many breakouts. My skin did not have any kind of reaction to the Eve Lom cleanser. |

EveLom has a new cleanser : it's lighter than the balm, you can get it off your skin easier (EL suggests to use it in the morning). Has the same scent and feels just a little less greasy than the balm. I like it very much, use it in the evening as well. |

That sounds good, lin23. Does the new cleanser remove sunscreen well? |

Hi Riley,
I think yes.
I don't wear heavy SS, but tonight I'll do a special test for you : today I used Dr.Lewinn's R4 with SPF15 (zinc, etc., etc.) + some foundation. Will let you know. :-)

The new cleanser is called Morning Time. I asked in the Eve Lom shop and they said it's for using it in combination with the classic cleanser, as it is so lightweight.
You're supposed to use the classic cleanser at night; in the morning you use nothing. So they developed the morning time cleanser for people who miss the morning cleansing step, I gues. |

Hi Riley,
well, I felt I got off all my sunscreen (octinoxate, Zinc, etc.), make-up ("Hourglass" liquid found.), sweat and grime with the new EveLom (I had no mascara on).
And BTW, I wouldn't call it "lightweight"... (but it's definitely lighter, than the balm one). It's a keeper for me. |

It sounds great, Lin! Thanks for doing that experiment. I don't wear make-up, just sunscreen, so it sounds like it would work great. |

Hi Penta,
oh yes, the classic EL balm has been my HG cleanser for the last 5 years. I stopped using it the last winter, when my dry skin couldn't cope with it (in fact, I think it rather couldn't cope with the mouslin cloth daily...).

Lin, do you just need the morning time cleanser now?
I wonder if the classic cleanser kinda works like OCM? A friend of mine who broke out from using OCM also broke out from Eve Lom. Would kinda make sense, what with the massage and the muslin cloth and the hot then cold treatment. |

Penta,
IMO the classic EL balm cleanser is a sort of OCM. As I mentioned, I use the new EL Morning Cleanser in the evening. In the morning I use water only, or the Skin Refresher from MIR skincare.
