| I love the scent of lavender and find it to be VERY calming, but I have yet to find a lavender perfume that I like. I have no experience with using neat Lavender oil, but what do you guys think--- could a dab on my wrists work as a perfume, or should I keep looking? TIA! |

I would not use it neat, but rather dilute it with a carrier oil. (Jojoba, Olive, Grapeseed whatever) - Neat can be very irritating.
Also do smell it first, most Essentual Oils don't smell "terrific" neat. And in the case of lavander, there are many different kinds, with different "scents". So you need to find the one you like.
I actually use scented perfume oils, on my skin, like a perfume, from Hayworth and really like them.
They are EOs or Perfume scents added to a Jojoba or other light oil base. They are also very cheap so easy to try a bunch without going broke.

A perfume oil is a softer scent, but lasts longer overall on the skin. Alcohol free, so less intense, but also evaporates slower. |

Hi manslayerliz,
You could just mix lavender with a carrier oil ... but the scent wouldn't last very long.
Perfume usually has 3 notes ... a top note [the lightest of the scents ... the thing one smells when one first puts the perfume on]... a bass note [which is the heavy scent that holds the others ... benzoin can be used as a bass note] ... a mid note ... [the actual fragrance that lingers once the top note has dissipated.]
This mix of "notes" is then added to a scentless alcohol and aged.
The very best perfumes ... the ones that cost a fortune use lots of natural essential oils. The cheapest perfumes use synthetic fragrance oils.
Now, that said, years and years ago, [in the 1960's and 70's] I used to wear Patchouli Oil as a perfume ... but I think that aside from it having been a fragrance oil, it was blended with something that would make the fragrance last.
I know that I've seen some solid "perfumes" at my local health food store ... one of which was lavender ... that could work ... so you might want to check out your local health food store ... or on the Internet.
Lavender is such a lovely fragrance in real life and it's almost never lovely in synthetic form!  In short ... be very careful about synthetic lavenders ... there are a ton of awful ones out there ... although I'll bet there are one or two that are good.
It's like Vanilla ... we've all smelled enough horrible synthetic renditions of that to last us a lifetime!
You might want to make up a beeswax/oil mix that will semi-solidify and add the lavender EO when it's almost cool. That might provide the wearability you're probably looking for!

| Lots of great advice here so I won't regurgitate any of it. I'll will say, however, that I love using essential oils as perfumes. I am extremely sensitive to synthetic fragrances and most perfumes induce a severely unpleasant reaction such as inflamed sinuses and horrible migraines, so I always try to opt for natural alternatives. I have often used a blend of carrier oils with my favourite EOs. Another great way to use aromatherapy for a natural perfume is to spritz on a hydrosol/floral water or a blend of your favourites. You can also add a few drops of your favourite EOs to make the scent a little stronger or for more staying power. |

| I´ve recently discovered the joy of wearing pure EOs as perfume (I was using BPAL, which is EOs and carrier oilwww.blackphoenixalchemylab.com earlier) and I´ve found the loveliest way to wear them: Aromajewels. Onwww.aromajewel.com you can see all kinds of pendants, both gems and quartz, which has a tiny hole drilled into them so you can place a drop or two of your fave scent inside the stone. The oil won´t spill if the gem is inverted, but will be diffused over a few days. A nice way to use aromatherapy as perfume without it becoming overpowering or disappearing too fast. |

she does and they're fabulous! i highly recommend her solid perfumes as something you can carry with you in your bag in case you need a lift (although her scents seem to last and linger forever w/out being obnoxiously strong)! |

| I love mixing my own scents to wear with essential oils. My favorite by far is 6 drops of vanilla, 3 drops of musk, and 2 drops of patchouli oil. I mix it and then place on my behind my ears, neck, and wrists. I always get really great compliments when I wear it. I haven't found a perfume that I just love. I find that I often bring my wrist to my nose throughout the day. |

You ladies are just too funny!! Well, for the record since I'm notoriously lazy about blending my own stuff I went ahead and ordered both the solid perfume and the spray perfume in lavender from Candessence. (Thanks a million, Candy!) So, I'll definitely be reporting back on those two. In the meantime, can anyone else think of any of lavender perfumes or oils they particularly like? Natural only please--- as Mary mentioned, the synthetic ones are a nightmare IMO!
PS-- Sharbait, those necklaces look AWESOME!!! Do you have one? If so, which one and what oil do you put in it? And ah, how do you actually get the oil to go in it? I'm totally forwarding that link to DH for gift ideas!^-^ |

I love them, I have the cylinder and the drop shaped quartz. I´m so lemming the amethyst, but it´s $200-800 so I might have to think about it for a while. 
I use either a tiny pipette or the wand on those little perfume samples (BPAL imps). My fave is a blend of cypress and pink grapefruit - soo darned energizing.
Oh, and for scent, I love wildcrafted, high altitude french lavender. I get mine locally, but it should be widely available. |

| High altitude french lavender oil smells so much nicer than typical lavender oil, if you can find that I would absolutely recommend it! I bought a bottle from a place called Essential Oil University and it smells wonderful |

| Update! Apparently Candy has found an incredible French Lavender oil, so I went ahead and ordered The Aloe Silk spray, solid perfume, and roll-on perfume, all in lavender. (I don't think the roll-on is on the site yet, but if you can't wait you can PM candy.^-^) Anyways, all three smell just heavenly (I can feel my stress melting away when I use them...), and the spray is also nice to mist my sheets with before bed to ensure sweet dreams. Three cheers for Candy! |
