Has anyone here tried this foundation? I am curious to know if it is as good as the newspaper review says it is.

Nimue is a skin institute in South Africa that also produces a skin care line and one solitary item of make-up, that being their Treatment Foundation. After what I have read on their websites and a review in an Australian newspaper I think I might give it a go (that whole forgetting she is wearing it sentence has me sucked in), but it will be 6 months or so before I can get my hands on it. Sad

Websites:www.nimueskin.com (also has lists of international contacts) orwww.nimueskin.co.za (in Australia - though not as informative -www.nimue.com.au )

The only online places I have found it thus far are from UK and Australia:

http://www.ciaobellaonline.ashop.com.au/p/76644/nimue---treatment-foundation.html

Anyway, here is the review I read in the paper:

Then one particular foundation caught my eye for several reasons. Called Nimue Treatment Foundation, it's part of a sophisticated, salon-only, "dermacosmeceutical" skincare range from South Africa which has been on the Australian market for around five years.

One of the reasons it piqued my curiosity is that it's a foundation which has been created by a skincare company which isn't known for make-up, but for treating serious skin concerns, including environmental damage, acne and hypersensitivity. Nimue doesn't have any other make-up in its line whatsoever. Another is the fact that it's described as a "treatment foundation", and claims to work for all skin types, including both dry and oily skin.

Marion Levitt, director of Nimue, explains, "Most foundations on the market contain mineral oils, artificial colours and artificial fragrances that would aggravate the skin types we are trying to treat and balance. "We call Nimue a 'treatment foundation', but it should really be described as a balancing moisturiser that protects the skin and also gives good coverage. It's the last step in the skincare routine, and the first step in make-up application."

So what makes it suitable for all skin types? The answer is a key ingredient called lactocomplex, a compound based on milk-derived proteins and rich in cystine - anamino acid which promotes the healing process in the skin and balances oil flow - as well as vitamins B6 and H.

"The lactocomplex has the ability to regulate sebum, depending on the skin's requirements," she explains. "It acts on the enzymes that naturally regulate the sebum flow. In an oily skin, lactocomplex will reduce sebum flow, and on a dry skin it will increase it. Treatment Foundation is also based on natural iron oxides and titanium dioxide that provide natural colour pigments that do not cause irritation and breakouts."

It all sounds good, but the only way to see if a foundation truly suits your skin is to road test it. The first thing which impressed me at the consultation was the colour matching. Nimue Treatment Foundation comes in six different shades (with one being the palest), and the shades have yellow or pink bases. My perfect match was 004, Natural Beige. The second thing was the look, which was smooth, natural and even; rather than masking my natural skin tone, the foundation enhanced it.

But the most impressive element was undoubtedly how the foundation felt on my skin. It was applied at lunchtime, and I wore it for the rest of the day until late that night. In fact, at one point I completely forgot I had it on, until a friend commented on it. Later that night, when I removed the foundation, my skin looked great. It was calm and hydrated, with no hint of any dryness or irritation. I was convinced.

"This foundation is suitable for absolutely everyone," says Levitt. "It is a foundation that will protect and prevent a lot of skin concerns. In fact, a problem skin will see a huge improvement within a week." Nimue Treatment Foundation costs $68 for 30ml. For stockists, call Nimue Skin Technology on 1300 464 683.
