I dont have melasma but alot of sun damage which has left my skin looking brown.
Will hq work and if so when could I see results.

Btw, I cant really tolerate retin-a so I wont be able to mix them.

It works well for many. It can take several weeks or months to start to see improvement.

Do you mean you have brown patches or are you talking more like your skin looks like it has a permanent tan? Hydroquinone definitely works for pigmentation problems, but it can take 3 months to see anything happening.

Both!!!
I have done alot of peels and didnt use sunblock about 5 years ago. So now I have permanently tanned skin (like what a lot of women see on their neck) and patches of darker pigment splattered. The dermatologist told me that I do not have melasma though.

The HQ would work, but it will take time, and you will need to make sure to wear a really good sunscreen at all times!

I've used HQ in conjunction with the Obagi Nuderm system and, for me, it really did take care of the hyperpigmentation/sunspots.

In fact, I think I'd go so far as to say that it is one product that I can't live without!

Also, it took about three months of continued usage before I noticed a real difference. I continue to use the Clear (the Nuderm product that contains HQ) three times a week as part of maintenance. With using Clear and a good sunscreen, I've successfully kept the sunspots away! Smile
