are there any product that has caught your attention and you'll always return to?
i'm easily tempted to try new things and hoping to work on a holy grail/staple list.
thanks |

I have Oily skin and my HG items and what I return to again and again are:
*Homemade version of Dr Hauschka Cleansing Cream
*Witch Hazel
*Dr Hauschka Normalising Day Oil
*Dr Hauschka Cleansing Cream (I use original as a face mask)
*Decleor Aromaessence Ylang Ylang Balm
*Tea Tree Essential Oil for treating any outbreaks. |

Ponds Age Defying Complex - an 8% aha cream that is meant to be used both day and evening. Instead I use it evenings for one week a month to refresh my skin with gentle exfoliation. I have tried other aha products but this is the one that works for me.
Pears glycerin soap day and evening when I have not been wearing makeup. Although we are told over and over to not use soap on the face, this works for me. Leaves my skin feeling clean, with no residue but soft and moisturised. Inexpensive and long lasting with a mild scent that disappears once you've dried yourself.
Johnsons face and eye cleansing and moisturising lotion at night when I have been wearing makeup. Takes off everything except waterproof mascara.
Petroleum jelly - for taking off waterproof mascara. I have tried dozens of different makeup removers and all of them either don't get it off or sting my eyes. This works. Splash face with tepid water, massage lightly onto eye area and leave for a minute while washing the rest of my face, then use wet face washer to wipe off vaseline and makeup, finish by splashing well with tepid water.
Revlon Flex shampoos and conditioners. Dirt cheap and effective. Over the years I have tried many of the natural shampoos and conditioners that don't have sodium lauryl sulfate or sodium laureth sulfate and while they do the job they cost five times as much and don't leave my hair or scalp feeling any healthier. I personally have decided that the concern over sls products is hype and I'm back to Flex and my hair looks clean, shiny and healthy.
Revlon Natural Honey body lotion - several types to choose from, once again dirt cheap and effective, even if they do contain that dreaded ingredient - mineral oil. These lotions sink right in, leave no oily residue, moisturise all day and although they are scented, it wears off quite quickly so it doesn't clash with whatever perfume I am wearing.
Blistex lip balm - my only gripe is I wish they would make it in an easy to apply tube instead of a pot you have to use with your fingers. Now that I've had my whinge, this calms irritated lips and leaves them nicely smoothed and moisturised.
Aloe Vera Gel - an excellent light night time moisturiser all by itself if you have young or oily skin, or are suffering from sunburn.
Apple cider vinegar - I get dandruff and have for 20 years. Using 10% acv in a litre of water as a final rinse after washing my hair gets rid of dandruff as effectively as Head and Shoulders or Nizoral. ACV in the bath will also sooth sunburn, and can be added to green tea as an effective skin toner (see diy section for details of recipes people have posted).
Lanolin cream - although I am aware that some people are allergic to lanolin, if you're not, consider getting a tube of this. Perfect as a cuticle cream, a night time hand cream when your skin is really dry. It is also the best thing for soothing a nose that is sore from too much blowing when you have a nasty head cold. Dab it on that sore red nose in the evening and by morning it looks normal again. |

I was about to start the same topic! Here's my list.
- La Prairie Skin Caviar Luxe Cream
- Yon-Ka Cleansing Milk (I'm still on my 1st bottle but will DEFINITELY repurchase as it's become my HG cleanser)
- Vaseline Petroleum Jelly (it's the only thing that heals my very dry chapped lips)
- Sunkiller SPF 50 (I've learned about this product on EDS and I'm on my 3rd bottle already!!! I hate how it comes in such a small bottle and I go through it so quickly)
- Shu Uemura Cleansing Oil (A lot of people seem to get clogged pores from it, but I've never had this problem at all)
- Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Body Moisturizer and Johnson's Baby Lotion (I've been using them for as long as I remember)
- Cle de Peau Teint Naturel Fluide (I love this foundation....so light, but great coverage and great color match)
- Nars Blush in Orgasm and Silvana (I've been using Orgasm since it first came out and I'm on my 3rd of Silvana, but only because I keep dropping it!!!)
- Bobbi Brown Blush in Nectar (Also been using it since it came out...my perfect everyday blush)
- L'Oreal Lash Architect
- Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner
- MAC Lipglass in Oh Baby (I love this lip gloss!!!)
- Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream (My all time HG product. It's great for everything!)
That's all I can think of for now |

New here and still sorting out the recommendations, and have bought some of them (HA, emu, lactic, PSF items, but so far everything is making my rosacea/sensitive skin worse/red/burning)... That said my old standbys that, for some reason, don't cause problems include:
Cetaphil cleanser
Eucerin Q10 anti wrinkle
Burt's Bees lip balm
Kiss My Face body lotion
Kiehl's creme de corps
Un-petroleum jelly (LOVE this, made without petroleum products)
Rosacea creams: noritate and finacea
Skinceuticals C-E-Fer (only occasionally or it's irritating)
Neutorgena body oil
All sunscreens cause problems, but use Clinique City Block when I know I'll be in the sun, can cause a rash, but so does everything. |

Products I love and have bought over and over again (starred products are used daily and are my HG. Makeup products are generally used daily -- but sometimes I go without if I'm just running errands):
Cetaphil cleanser*
SkinCeuticals CE+Ferulic*
Avene retinaldehyde products (currently using Retrinal but have also used Ystheal) - this is another HG but I don't use it daily
PSF Pumpkin Enzyme Peel
Caudalie Radiance Serum
Bioderma MAX Fluide and Creme SPF50+*
Jane Iredale Pressed Base and Blush
Stila Fog eyeshadow
Clinique Airbrush concealer
Laura Mercier Bare Lips and Baby Lips
I just purchased my second PSF DMAE Serum -- don't want to be without it.
And I'm very impressed with Gold Bond Ultimate Healing Skin Therapy Lotion. It's a big bottle, inexpensive, and keeps my hands in better shape than any other drugstore hand lotion I've tried so far.
I'm always on the lookout though, and have tried many many more things than I care to admit to. I use more makeup items than this list would suggest, but I'm not commited to them. |

I would say that the majority of what is in my home in regards to skincare falls under 2 brand names:
Ice Elements
Garden Botanika
While I discovered Garden Botanika years ago when that company first started I have never found anything that responds as well to my body skin as their shower gels and lotions. They always have quality products that do not irritate or dry out my skin. I have tried other products over the years but after Garden Botanika the only other body product that I have found that I am happy with is the Ice Elements body lotion.
Ice Elements has been a more recent discovery, about a year ago... I just fell in love with the simplicity and natural aspect of the products as well as the customer service.
While I use more than the basic products, I feel very confident that someone with a time crunch or on a budget could have very good results with the basic 3 products - cleanser with built in toner, anti-aging serum and the moisture lotion.
Take care.
