are facial oils/blends moisturizers or treatments. I bought this one :
now i don't really know what to do with it:there are no instructions on hwo to use it.
Pure Skin Facial oil
• Hazelnut Oil helps to balance Sebaceous output to decrease skin oil production
• Organic Jojoba Oil is the most similar to skin sebum nourishes + moisturizes without that greasy feel
• Organic Petitgrain Essential Oil purifies + detoxifies skin gently |

Hi rosyface,
Hazelnut and Jojoba are both treatments and moisturizers. They can even be cleansers ... just to add to your confusion.
Now the petitgrain oil is an essential oil and different from the hazelnut and jojoba oils.
If you want to use either of the Hazelnut or jojoba oils as moisturizers, just put a drop onto a dampened finger ... rub that drop with the fingers of your other hand to emulsify it and apply to a damp face. Let air dry.
The same thing goes for "treatments".
However, if you want to use a combination of oils, you should premix them into a smaller bottle and then use a drop of the combination oil as above.
You'd pour, say, a teaspoon each of jojoba and hazelnut oil into a small bottle ... and then add a couple of drops of the petitgrain oil. Shake the bottle and you've got your own personal blend of oils.
My suggestion to you would be to try each of the Hazelnut and Jojoba oils by themselves to see how your skin will react to either of them. Technically Jojoba is a wax rather than a true oil. My skin loves jojoba oil ... but I've known people whose skin reacts badly to it. I've never used hazelnut oil.
I would decant a small amount of each oil into a smaller bottle and try it alone ... then try it with added petitgrain EO. That way, if your skin doesn't like the petitgrain EO ... or you don't like the smell, you haven't wasted a whole bunch of the oil.

Hi again Rosyface,
Hazelnut and jojoba are what they call "carrier oils". Only the Petitgrain is an "EO" or "essential oil".
There is a big difference between carrier oils and essential oils.
Carrier oils are those that are cold pressed from a plant ... vegetable, nut, fruit, or seed. They have an oily consistency like your cooking oil would have ...
Essential oils are distilled or otherwise coaxed from flowers & stems of plants and are very fragrant. Essential oils are "volatile" oils which means that they evaporate very quickly and their fragrance is released through heat.
So ... you have a blend of two carrier oils ... hazelnut and jojoba ... and one essential oil ... petitgrain.
I'm surprised that they don't have directions on the bottle ... but presuming that this is a "nourishing facial oil" I'd think that you would apply this to a clean, damp face in the manner that I explained in my first post to you.
Don't use too much ... and if a drop doesn't do, use another drop.
You could also use it, I suppose, as a pre-wash massage oil ... massaging a bit into your face for a few minutes and then washing it.
Or you could use it in the same way that those of us who do OCM do.
Very simply, we take a little of the oil and massage it into our face. Using warm-to-hot water and a wash cloth, we rinse the wash cloth, wring it out, then press the cloth against our face for a minute or two [until it starts to feel cool] and then we wipe away the oil.
We repeat the wash cloth part a couple of times, until there's no more oil [or dirt] on our faces ... and then we tone and moisturize. You can use the same oil mixture for moisturizing that you use for cleansing.
If you do a search on OCM in the EDS forums, you'll find lots and lots of information on that.
I think the mixture you have is too expensive to use as an OCM mixture, but it would work.

thanks for the clarification. I think i'll use it as a moisturizer (i'll try anyway, my skin is parched because of the frigid temps and harsh windchills) I hope that it will help protect my skin from the elements. |

hpjrt has given you a pretty good explanation of how to use your facial oil. If you want to learn more about the oils themselves you can go here - if you scroll up it will also give you a definition of carrier and essential oils.

I just want to comment on Wildflower's suggestion re oil treatments of Jojoba & Rosehip for face, a.m. & p.m.
Since I started following her suggestion, my skin, which was flaking in our cold, dry winter air, has completely healed, feels softer and moisturized.
Have mentioned this elsewhere, but the really big news is the effect of the rosehip oil on broken caps.
Wanted to wait a while to ensure results were consistent before posting the big news. I have taken special care to dab the oil a little more heavily onto areas where I have broken caps.
Well, this morning, I can say, they have almost disappeared!! I'm amazed.
I normally, other than in winter, have somewhat congested, v. oily T zone and spent much time squeezing those #@*! blackheads from nose & chin areas, leaving broken caps over time.
Never thot I'd get rid of them other than thru a DPL treatment.
It's a miracle in my mind that a good quality organic rosehip oil can significantly repair the damage. WOW!
So gals, try it if you have this problem. A much cheaper alternative than a light treatment. |

It's the Kosmea line from Australia. Bought it at my local health food store on rec from SA. She said rosehip oil was a 'wonderful' thing & suggested buying nothing but a good quality organic oil. Said she has a friend who is writing a research paper on its benefits. Like a little bottle of liquid rose gold.
Being a passionate gardener & very passionate about roses, I had no doubts about their marvelous qualities even in the form of oils.
I was very new to EDS forum at the time & knew nothing about using oils other than Dr. H's Blackthorn Body Oil which I also love. But one contributor at that early stage of my membership said it was her 'miracle' skin care treatment & I went alooking for it....
So I owe so much to this forum cuz have learned tons in such a short period of time. Skin has improved remarkably.
