Hello Everyone! Can you help me with a make up dilemma I have found myself in?
I haven't worn eye make up since I was a teenager and most of the time it was always heavily kohled ala Brigitte Bardot, but I watched this French Film with Stephanie Pasterkamp, it was called "The Time I Turned 20 Again" or something like this, and she had this super great eye make up look and now I simply must try it .
I'm sorry I tried searching on the internet for a good picture of her in that film but I just couldn't find one, but basically it's heavily winged eyeliner on the top and heavy mascara on the top eyelashes only. There's absolutely nothing on the lower lid.
Well, I've bought the YSL liquid eyeliner and Chanel Mascara but my attempts aren't that super great. The problem is that whenever I put the mascara on my lashes the blackness simply ALWAYS migrates down to the bottom lashline. I tried to get away with just putting the mascara on the tips, but still, same problem.
So I want to ask, is there anything I can do to eliminate this problem. How do they do it? I don't know - i have very narrow almond eyes, maybe this is something to do with it |

Are you using a waterproof mascara? |

Do you think this is what it could be? I wanted to avoid waterproof mascara because i thought it was more harsh on the lashes. |

Personally, I don't care for waterproof mascaras either. But if the color is migrating, I would think that a waterproof mascara would stay put. Or you may want to try another brand of mascara to see if that solves the problem. |

I'm sure you can easily achieve the look you were going after. The trick simply lies in using waterproof products. Try MAC Fluidlines in Blacktrack or Blitz&Glitz for the classic winged look sans raccoon eyes. Blinc Kiss Me mascara has been the only mascara that doesn't migrate beyond my lashes. Good luck! |

I still think you can make it work with what you have. Is it possable that if you use your lose powder over the eye area, put your make-up on ( the liner) then put mabye grey or black eye shadow on top of it. Maybe this will help it stop leak to the bottom eye lid. |

masha, i don't have any recs re: waterproof mascara, but I will say that a signal component of this "look" includes NOT neglecting your lower eye at all: try using a light nude pencil to rim the bottom of your eyelid, making sure to get the beginnings of the lashes, too. It makes a HUGE difference, and really drives the mod point home. Just stay away from shimmer!
you can use concealer if you are in a pinch--just don't rub it in too much, and extend from your inner corner to the outer corner.
i was looking for mu artists who practice this technique, and while I couldn't find an exact 'mod' reference, makeup artists "francelle" and "eric polito" do it a lot, and you can see the effect of putting nude and white underneath the eyes--you can see their work atwww.magnetny.com under "makeup." You can compare it to any other photo of makeup that either uses shimmer or even does a smoky eye--the mod look you are going for, even if the bottom lashes are indeed mascaraed, all have the lightly colored bottom rim.
hth!
