Hubby and I are thinking of taking six months off to travel. Add to the mix DD (almost 3) and we should have a lot of fun. Where would you go?

OMG!!! What a wonderful thing to be able to do! Until we retire we're lucky to get a week away.

But - since we're heading down fantasy road... Australia & Greece....*sigh*

I am in serious envy! Very Happy

But travelling with a three year old has me stumped for what would be a fun trip that isn't too overwhelming for her. Confused I would suggest sticking to places where the weather isn't too extreme.

She´s´a little globe trotter already, so she´s not too fussy about locations. And being from Norway we are used to the cold - we have a bit more trouble with the tropical temperatures. Laughing

So you have a little globe trotter, do you? That's great! Very Happy

When I mentioned extreme weather, I was thinking of tropical places; if you're not used to the heat, it's taxing on everyone.

If it were me then, I would be leaning towards the Mediterranean. With six months, you could visit a lot of amazing places and it's not too, too far from home.

Have you been to the US or Canada? I think that a combination of visiting the two countries would be a lot of fun. If you did the west coast, you could visit BC (it's gorgeous) and maybe add in an Alaskan cruise. Then down the US west coast, there are so many great places to visit. If you went as far as California, then you'd be fairly close to Las Vegas and that is a place to see. If you did the east coast, a trip to PEI is a must-do. Montreal would have to be on your list too. There are a lot more historical sites to see on the east coast. You'd have to visit Boston and New York.

I would go to Australia, Prague, Israel, Canada, Alaska, and/ or some tropical warm place. I guess it all depends on personal preferences. All of the places listed above are ones I have never been to, therefore I would consider it being a new and exciting experience. But currently, since I am looking forward to the one week I get off of school, I just want to go someplace warm to have a change from the Coloradoan ( ) weather of 25 degrees Fahrenheit during the day Shock .

6 straight months? Wow! I'm jealous Sad LOL. Well, if you live in North America, I would start by exploring Central America, then down through South America, over to Antarctica (if season permits), on to Australia, then up to New Zealand, and over to Africa to finish off. If you want to do Asia then I would do that just before Africa. Save the best for last. Wink

I love rail travel and would either do Europe by rail or Canada and the U.S. Of course, the trains in Europe are much more full service than in North America.

I'd love to go to Vietnam and do the Mekong Delta, I've heard it is truly fantastic, and to Cambodia, and see Angkor Wat. On to Dharamsala and into Tibet. Then rest up in Kerala.

bidee iruuH ala assharq al'owseT (I want to travel to the Middle East).

If I had six months I'd visit:
Egypt, Palestine/Israel, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, U.A.E. (Dubai!!!!), Lebanon, Syria (Damascus!), Jordan (Petra!), and Yemen.

I might be going to Yemen next summer...so excited.

Other places I must visit:
the Haghia Sofia in Istanbul, Turkey,
the Forum Romanum in Rome
Prague (in the homeland!)
the Acropolis in Athens
Tibet

Would love to go to Australia and New Zealand, then see the pyramids in Egypt, Machu Picchu Peru, Hawaii (not a touristy island) and end up in a hammock on some beautiful secluded beach sipping a Strawberry Diaquiri and reading a great book! My idea of bliss. Smile

Southeast Asia. I would go back to my home in Malaysia (living in Vancouver now). From there, travel to Thailand, Singapore, Bali. 6 months will go by very fast, and they are relatively cheap to go to.

I would go traveling around Europe. I always wanted to go to Italy, and to see Paris. I would really love to be able to spend concentrated time there and really get to know the places and the people. I would also love to be able to learn French.
