So, last night I used this on my forehead just to test it out and it was great! The dry, flakey skin on my forehead seemed to come right off so I was eager to try it on the rest of my face tonight.
Hmmm... not so good. I just cleansed, used the EII, and then sprayed my Zenbiotic toner and Phyto Moisture about 20 minutes ago. Two seconds ago I looked in the mirror and my face has a bunch of flaky skin on it- almost like the EII caused it. Could it be too abrasive for me?
I wet my face first and put about a dime-nickel sized amount spread over my entire face. I gently (I thought I was being gentle at least) massaged it into my skin spending about 10 seconds on each area of my face (10 seconds for each cheek, 10 seconds for the chin, etc).
So, now I'm left with flaky skin again! Any suggestions for how to use this so it works? I would love to find a good exfoliator that works for my skin... and IE MM2 frustrates the heck out of me.
Thank you so much!

Shawna, I don't believe the problem is with Epidermx II, something else in your routine is causing the flakiness. To find out for sure, just use the EpII by itself at night and then the next morning have a good look at your skin and see if it is flaky. The EpII can be used on a daily basis, preferably at night but only for 10 to 15 seconds then rinse. Once a week it can be used as a gentle scrub for about a minute. |

Thanks for the reply, Bushy! I have had flaky skin for years, no matter what I use and trying the EII has been just one of many attempts to reduce the flakiness.
I think part of it might be that I need more moisture, which I am going to be working on very soon.
I kind of wonder if I should be extremely gentle with the EII, also. I've always been very sensitive to manual exfoliation.

Shawna, I agree with your assessment that you might need more moisture. In my experience the EpidermxII works very well against flakies, but it needs adequate moisture afterwards. What are you thinking of adding? |

Liz, I am thinking I will go with the Zenbiotics ME. I wanted to try out just the EII first and see if it might be just an exfoliation issue.
I guess not! |

Hi Marla! Right now I am using the Zenbiotic face/body cleanser. I have definitely seen an improvement in the flakes since using Zenbiotic, and now I am just trying to refine my routine even more. |

I have used epidermx II now for about 2 weeks, about every other day, and no problems with flakiness. Maybe ease up to not using it every day. |

At first I was thinking maybe your cleanser was drying you out, but I doubt the ZenB would cause that kind of problem.
I agree with Liz about skin needing something after EpII. Have you tried adding your ZB moisturizer while your skin's just a little damp? If not, I would try that...then maybe add a little more after your skin dries if you need it.
Liz...what do you think?
I would also use the scrub no more than every other night. Are you also doing all the stuff that all of us should do but probably don't ....like drink plenty of water, eat your veggies, etc (to help hydrate from the inside out). |

Marla, I definitely agree. Shawna, if you are still experiencing flakies, I think you'll really benefit from the Moisture Enrich. After you wash your face and use E2, use the oxytoner, then phyto moisture, and then while your skin is still damp smooth a drop of moisture enrich in. Your skin will drink it right up! |

Marla, I am actually very good at little things like that.... I drink 75-100 oz of water a day, take cod liver oil daily, exercise, etc.
I think that the Moisture Enrich will be the golden ticket! Thanks, ladies! |

Okay! I think I solved part of my issue and I just wanted to pass it along to anyone else that might need it.
I have always been really nervous about products that use manual exfoliation because my skin is pretty sensitive. So, I think I was being too timid with the EII. I would scrub it on for about 10 seconds, very gently, and then when I rinsed it off I would freak out because there was still a bunch of dead, flaky, messy skin on my face immediately after using it. I thought maybe it was 'tearing' my skin up too much and creating more flakes.
Well. I re-read the instructions on the website and noticed that she mentions a few stages that you will experience with your skin as you are scrubbing. Last night I finally followed what she wrote and probably massaged it into my skin for a good minute or so. Eventually the cream base absorbed into my skin and the crystals were clumping up a bit more. When I rinsed it off, my skin finally looked smooth! No more dead skin or flakes. I was thrilled!
So, I think I was initially being too timid with it and was simply not getting all of the dead skin up. I was pretty nervous about it, but I am soooo glad I finally beat my exfoliation fears (I know, this is silliness!). My skin looks great today!
I am definitely going to buy the full size. Before this, I was sampling the IE 2MM but I like the EII so much more.

I have been using the EpidermxII for about 2 weeks now, almost daily, and my skin looks great! It does not make it raw or sensitive or anything. THis is truly a great product. |
