Asian Whitening Products? I mean no disrepect at all. I've never heard of this before but it seems to be a popular subject so I would like to learn more about it.

Hi Fantasia
I think when people talk about asian whitening products they are referring to the whole collection of asian brands that make products for the purpose of whitening the complexion. There are many brands in Asia (which we don't really get here) that aim to whiten skin - and they are very popular too. I read somewhere that approx 60% of Japanese women use cosmetics from a whitening range. The whole whitening industry in Asia appears to be huge - starting with the whitening products and ending with sunblocks that have an SPF of over 100...

Yeah, I wondered about that too.
But like....why do they wanna whiten their skin?? lol
I'm asian... I would rather get my skin darker with a tan or something. What's the purpose of whitening their skin? |

I was wondering about that too, most of us Filipinos wants to have a Fairer skin when most of the white people would spend a great deal of money just to get the right Tan/Dark brown skin color.
I myself am a Filipina and very proud to be the color I am. Some people( Indian for example) a lot of people believe that the fairer you are the better you are, which is a form of insecurities if not self-hatred.
Who wants to be the color of a MAGGOT, anyway? . If you visit many parts of Africa you will find MAGGOT is the term they use for white people.(Which is probably why most white people spend so much money getting a tan in the first place.)
No Offense |

Well...... let's just say that, being very pale myself, I'm really glad that you decided to throw in that "no offense" line at the end You should be careful what you write though, in a medium like the internet people don't have the ability to judge the tone of your message and some might get very offended nonetheless.
I much prefer the term "porcelain" thank you very much! High school has also taught me to be able to laugh off "Casper" comments |

Pinay24,
I'm Filipina also, and proud of my skin color--Definitely not interested in lightening it. I'm sure you didn't mean it, but I think the word "maggot" is very harsh and offensive. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and I think pale and dark skins are equally beautiful! Let's try and not put down something we're born with and possibly cannot change |
