Yesterday I went to my local Home Depot to pick up some bits and pieces for my garden. While standing in line a woman, probably in her late 50's, walk in and I couldn't take my eyes off her!
She was about 5'5" and slender. What probably used to be a head with all black hair was now 60% grey and down to the shoulder.
She was wearing ballerina flats and tight black pants with a trench coat. Non of this sounds very special or unusual.
I think it was the fact that she wore deeply dark-red nailpolish on shortly trimmed nails.
It was also the fact that she seemed not to be wearing any makeup at all.
It was probably also the fact that she hadn't done anything "artificial" with her face.
What I had infront of me was a woman with grace and beauty who was proud to be wearing wrinkles and nailpolish!
I noticed that my boyfriend appreciated what he saw and I had to smile. How could I blame him for looking?
I am a 30 year old woman and I hope I will posess the same confidence about myself and life in the next 2 decades to come. |

Maybe she's really a 70+ y.o. woman who looks to be in her late 50s.
That's great that you saw this beautiful and graceful lady. We all are hoping to age with grace. |

I hope that I have the wisdom to treat my age the way that lady did. |

I think one of the greatest examples of aging whilst maintaining grace and beauty will always be Katherine Hepburn. |

Sounds as though she had a strinking sense of the stylish.
I am very aware of how I need to keep that, as I get older, to avoid looking ordinary and middle aged,it's tempting to start striving more for pretty than for style statement and effect. |

There is nothing more beautiful than a healthy sense of self! There is nothing sexier than a woman who is comfortable in her own skin!

This is so true, and so easy to lose sight of when staring at all of the "flaws" in the mirror. |

Agreed. I love that woman! I also think it is interesting to look at how Tippi Hedren has age compared to her daughter Melanie Griffith...big difference IMO |

some people are more elegant that attracting people. It's not only beauty, i guess it really depends on the overall hair, face, body appearance and wardrobe. |

It's unfortunate that so many people consider age a moral flaw instead of a normal process. Beauty shouldn't end at 29, but for many aging is something to be afraid of. You just saw a person who proves that beauty isn't just one ideal. |

It happened to me once at a mall. I was sitting in an open area where people eat, meet others, people watch, etc. At the far end a lady appeared who seemed to be about 70 or more. She had a cloud of white hair, clear skin, she was a bit over weight but carried it well and moved with grace. She had on a beautiful blue dress with matching hat (no, not a ball cap ). She would stop and talk to people here and there. I noticed every had their eyes on her. She was one of the most beautiful women I'd ever seen. |
