[b]I did something really stupid! I forgot about the no waxing with retinoids rule and really burnt my upper lip. I used natural aloe vera from my plant and within a few hours it turned very dark brown to purple. Has this happened to anyone else?

yes, I have totally done that. It's actually why I just bought a tiny epilator -- so I can remove the fuzz without touching the skin. I just put a review up on the review board about it.

In the meantime, keep it moist so it doesn't get scabby -- because then you won't be able to conceal it! I'd keep something like vaseline or a very soothing THICK cream on there. take some B vitamins and and advil to take down the redness and inflammation. hth!

oh and manslayer liz, a "mustache shaped scab" is such hilarious imagery! You should put a hot bottle up to your eye so you can have a matching monocle-scab. Then wear a top hat and no one will be the wiser.

I totally agree with waffle that the most important thing is keeping it moist. If you can stand going out in public, try to get to a drugstore and get a tin of Burt's Bees Res-Q ointment. It will help with the redness and irriatation and keep the skin moist too.

As for YOU, waffle, "matching monocle-shaped scab?????" You're lucky that's so hilarious! Laughing I'll try to remember that ahem, advice the next time I have a mustache-shaped scab....

thanks for the feedback. I went to the doctor's office today where I get peels, etc. and they said soak it in a solution of 1 teaspoon white vinegar to one cup warm water every hour while you can. Then put on Vitamin A and D cream. That's the same idea..to keep it moist so it doesn't scab. I really still wonder if the color is a stain from my aloe. The washcloth the aloe was laying on got the same color stains.

I am really sorry that happened to you. Happened to me once, too -- pre-EDS (so I didn't get good advice on how to deal with it). I hope that these suggestions work out for you!
