is being held at the Post Office for signature confirmation. I am in the US and I know EDS ships from Canada.
I called the PO help line and they said that I either have to be home to sign for the package (I work full-time away from home) or go to the PO to sign. I can't just leave the form in my mailbox with my signature and have the package delivered the next day and left in my mailbox.
Is this standard, that any of our EDS packages shipped to the US require in-person sig confirmation? |

That's very interesting, since I'm the Dallas area too. |

I live in a house, and the postman always leaves my EDS packages for me, no signature required. I had a problem with getting deliveries when I lived in a condo a few years back. All delivery people (UPS, Fed-Ex, etc.) refused to leave packages. I was told that it's up to the delivery person to decide whether it is safe to just leave a package. If the delivery person feels it is not safe, then they make you come pick it up and sign for it. That was such a pain, and many times I didn't place orders online as a result!

I appreciate the reality check, that I was not singled out to experience this inconvenience! I know that it's just for my own protection, to ensure that I get my products, and for EDS's protection as well. This will encourage me to be more patient and compile a larger wish list, place a bigger order, and possibly get free shipping as a result, while minimizing trips to the P.O. |

I picked up my EDS package at the PO this morning. I was told that if the little box is not checked saying that the signature confirmation has to be presented in person, it's OK to try to leave it in the mailbox for re-delivery. But I was also told that it depends on the carrier and what they are comfortable doing!
I think that if this happens again, I may just try putting my signature out in the mailbox to see if my package will be re-delivered. If not, I will visit the PO again. I just hate standing in line, even in the "shorter" package pick-up line. |

The next time you order a package, try leaving a nice note in your mailbox a couple of days before it is due to arrive explaining that you are expecting a package and that you won't be available to sign for it and would they please just leave it for you. A little gift like a box of cookies and a thank you for their wonderful service wouldn't hurt.
