I figured someone here would know...

I decided I wanted to try Max Factor's new Volume Couture mascara. I'd recently tried Lash Perfection (with the new silicone brush) and really liked it, but volume has always been what I'm searching for (length hasn't ever been a problem).

I saw it in Wal-Mart, but they didn't have any black left. I got to feel the two brushes (Lash Perfection & Volume Couture) on the display. They're both the new type, but the one for Volume Couture is just ever so slightly stiffer. My thinking is that a stiffer brush would comb through my lashes better...

Anyway, I went on a search to find the Volume Couture in black. And I couldn't find anyone but Wal-Mart that carried the Max Factor line!?!?! And they only had a section 2 or 3 ft wide. I tried Target, CVS, Walgreens, Ulta, even Sephora. I remember when Max Factor used to have sections at least as large as L'Oreal, Maybelline, etc, if not larger!

So what's going on with Max Factor? Anyone know?

p.s. I finally found the Volume Couture in black in the 4th Wal-Mart I checked - fortunately we have a lot of Wally Worlds where I drive everyday Smile

Cathy

Cathy,

You sent me on a trip down memory lane! Max Factor was the first make up I ever used.

It does not seem to have the "star status" it had in previouse years. P&G bought them out in the '90's and perhaps P&G is not interested in permoting or investing in them. Rolling Eyes

Maybe it has something to do with the fact that the heir to the Max Factor fortune is now a convicted rapist who is serving time in prison. This after he fled the multiple charges in the US only to be found hiding out in Mexico. That can't help the company or their image. Confused

I dont see them advertised so much anymore, since they did the big campaign with Madonna, I think.. and that was years ago..

Cathy, were do you live? I'm in Illinois, and the only other place I've found Max Factor other than Walmart is a grocery store called Dominick's. Their makeup department is half an aisle, but they do have it. You might find it in another random store wherever you are.

no problem getting MF here in the UK. I love lipfinity and the nailfinity range. Not too keen on the masterpiece mascara though. The brush is too scratchy!

The MF mascara I love is 2000 Calorie, but the brush isn't so great. I like the brush from L'Oreal Voluminous, so every time I get new mascara, I throw out the brush it comes with and use the Voluminous one. I used to get YSL Faux Cils, but this is $6, and works just as well for me.

I saw it at Walmart today. THe eyeshadow colors are very funky/bright. I think Pat McGrath came on board are redesigned the image and the colors. Carmen Electra is the model now. I have not tried any of their products and have only seen the line at Walmart (colorado).

I have been wondering about Max Factor too. Their section at almost all the stores I have seen gets smaller and smaller and carries very little products. On the other hand, cover girl keeps growing and I have always associated cover girl as the worst drugstore brand, maybe a touch above wet n wild. I remember when all the teenage girls had cover girl compacts too.
