I ordered Edelweiss extract from GoW. I plan to I can mix it with my creams and serums. Do you know what proportion should I use?
Thank you. |

I think it says on the GoW site. I ordered it over a month ago and finally used it for the first time tonight. I just sprayed a little in my hand, and then mixed in my moisturizer. Wonder how I'll look in the morning.
From GoW site:
Applications:
anti-aging benefits
radical scavenger
helps protect skin by blocking ultraviolet light
anti-oxidant
Suggested usage rate: 3-6%
INCI: water; glycerin; edelweiss [fresh] flowers
Color: dark amber liquid
No scent
Who uses this in their products?
Ice Elements
Swiss Alpine Cosmetics
So, I think the 3-6% is how much Edelweiss extract you use in your mixture. |

Please, let us know what effect it will have on your skin.
I am lemming this one also (and Daisy one to help even out the skin color).
TIA,
Lucy. |

I'm waiting for a sample of the Edelweiss cream from Ice Elements. I have the serum but didn't like it that much. I did finally find I could use it if I mixed it with the HA serum from PSF. |

cedar,
Thank you.
Lucy,
I ordered it over a week ago, but didn't receive it, yet. I also ordered Ice Element kit that includes .5oz of Edelweiss Serum and .5oz of Edelweiss cream. Yesterday I used the serum for the first time.
After I'll use it for a month or two, I'll post the results. |

Can I ask you why didn't you like the serum?
Thanks. |

Where can you get the extract and is it edible like tinctures or topical only? |

I had the IE Edelweiss serum a few months ago. The first night I used it, I could not believe when I woke up in the morning, my 11's were entirely gone. It was sooo weird! So, I loved it. BUT, I could never duplicate that effect again. However, I did use the serum up, and liked it very much.
When I saw the Edelweiss extract on GoW, I jumped on it. I used it last night for the first time, just sprayed a short spray into my hand and mixed with my moisturizer and my skin looks nice today. No big changes, of course, but I'm happy. I will continue to use it and figure out other ways and times to use it. |

What is the edelwiss extract supposed to do though? Does it contain an antioxidant or an exfoliating enzyme/acid? |

doba--i almost bought the edelweiss extract today from GoW after placing a huge order. I opted for the blue lotus extract instead. I am still curious about the edelweiss as I have used Ice Elements and thought it would be cool to add to my base cream. I would love to hear more about results from it. |

What and how are you going to use Blue Lotus extract?
Thanks. |

Hi Doba,
The blue lotus extract is said to be "a potent anti-oxidant and a free radical scavenger."
I just figured I need more antioxidants since I have been making DIY creams.
I plan on adding a little to my current cream and experimenting with it in serums. I have been using liquid oat beta glucans straight as a serum and also mixed with liquid kelp too. I have so much to play around with at the moment. I will keep you updated.

Hi!
I will be most interested to hear how you all make out using the Edelweiss extract.
I did not see benefits from the Edelweiss serum from Ice Elements for quite some time... At least 2 months... however as it is an antioxidant I am sure that some of the benefits are those that occur with long term use.
I am excitedly waiting for my Edelweiss night cream as along with the Edelweiss it has a happy face ingredient that I am most interested in testing out.
The Edelweiss sure is an interesting item to use in skin care.
Take care.

So, I think the 3-6% is how much Edelweiss extract you use in your mixture. |
So, this already is a serum, right? What is % of edelweiss in this "dark amber liquid"? How do you know what the 3-6% is if it's not a 100% exctract you are using?
Thanks, R. |

Rubby, I am less than a DIY novice. Way less. So, I am not positive how to answer your question. Perhaps ask Markey at GoW? I have not been measuring anything yet, so I just spray a short spray and mix it with other oils. Embarrassing to admit, but maybe something will end up being my prized item. Sometime. Way in the future...... |

That's very interesting, Bosoxy--I had a feeling I gave up too soon! What kinds of benefits if you don't mind me asking? I so wanted it to do something for me. |

Hi Havana!
I had one neck ring in the center of my neck that is totally gone... I have another one lower down at the bend of my neck that is lessened, but not gone..
Then I had these funny indentations over the highest part of each brow. The one over my right brow is gone and the one over my left one is much less severe.
I also have three little lines on my forehead (like an inch or less each) that are lessened, that were quite deep.
I also see some tightening up of my skin along my jaw line. I have a full face and was worried that my skin was looking like I might have jowls soon... ACK! and it seems not as noticeable to me anymore.
My changes seem a lot less subtle than what I have heard others talk about, but I am happy with them and am not giving them back!
Take care.

On the topic of Edelweiss.
Just recently, searching for information on the use of extracts from the edelweiss flower, I came across the "Canadian Edelweiss Growers" website. These guys just blew me away, since Edelweiss is such a rare thing, and I never expected anyone outside Europe to grow this making some products out of it.
They are producing a glycerin based extract from the fresh Edelweiss, and are selling it alongside dried edelweiss flower products all over the world.
Edelweiss extract is used mainly by manufacturers of skincare products; such as Athanor, Welleda, Ice Elements, Green People, Aunt Bees,(more every time I check) for the very potent antioxidants and cell protection properties, as well as anti-inflammatory, UV screening and anti-microbial qualities of the plants compounds.
I am planing use it in some of my own concoctions and have ordered 100ml for 24.00 CAD
It is nice to be able to buy "Made in Canada" and save some of the shipping and "euro-land" premium which make everything from over there so expensive.
Check out Edelweiss Growers and I will keep you posted how I like that Canadian edelweiss extract.

I am writing to test to see if I can get onto page 2 of this thread as it is currently showing a page 2 but gives me an odd message when I try and access it...
Take care.
