Dark and delicious, the way I like my movies.
I know the critics hated it and thought it was a complete waste of time, but the female lead just happened to be my favourite Chinese actress, Gong Li.
And the French actor who played the 16-20yr Hannibal was also quite yummy, if you'll pardon the pun in the context of this movie.
Anyone else seen this? |

I thought about seeing this, but the terrible reviews put me off. SOTL is one of my favorite thrillers EVER, and I liked Red Dragon too, so I'm not too keen on having them ruined by a bad prequel. However, now that you say you liked it, my interest is piqued once again. I love Gong Li too--- is she gorgeous or what??? |

I want to see it, I didnt care for Red Dragon as much as Hannibal or SOTL but, I hope this one will be entertaining at the least.
BTW Liz SOTL is one of my all time faves too! I really am starting to think we were seperated at birth! |

Good evening, Clarice, I mean Vonstella!^-^
SOTL is such a bitchin, delicious movie! And Hannibal Lector---- is it wrong to have just a teensy little crush on him?
I agree, we were totally separated at birth. Too bad you got all the looks! |

I always felt a little weird about that, too. |

I think lots of people had a teensy crush on the Hannibal Lector character. It's the danger factor - talk about bad boy to the extreme. For me as a teenager my fantasies were stock standard vampires, and I had a minor crush on Boris Karloff. |

My husband and I saw this movie last night, and I loved it! Even my husband liked it a bit, and he hates horror movies. Now I want to read the book! |

I do want to see the film, but highly recommend the book - quite compelling and really draws you in. And the book had poor reviews, too. It's the same old thing, though: those who can't do, criticise. I usually find that if the critics (books or films) love it, I hate it and vice versa. Borat received good reviews (not that I would see it whatever anyone said about it). |

Is the book an original or is it one of those dupes from the movie type books? If it's an original is it called Hannibal Rising as well? I love these types of movies and books, btw, has anyone seen Perfume - The tale of a Murderer? That movie intrigues me but they're not playing it in Vancouver (or the rest of the province). |

I think all of the Hannibal stories were books before they were films. I haven't seen Perfume (the trailers creep me out) but my Father said that the book was good. |

I didn't like it. I thought young Hannibal was anything but intimidating, and this movie cannot even come close to SOTL. Then again I'm harsh when it comes to movies. |
