for anyone who's looking for some extra (but gentle) oomph for exfoliation, natural ayate washcloths are great. they're excellent to use in the shower with just a little gentle soap on anywhere you wax and/or shave to help prevent ingrown hairs, and i think they'll probably help with kp also. best part is that unlike loofahs they're totally machine washable - i just throw mine in with the laundry every week (washer and dryer) so that there's no buildup of dirt and bacteria.h

Do you buy these locally or do you have an online source?

i buy them locally in nyc at a place called shobha (great for threading, waxing/sugaring!), but i bet you can find them online . . .

Is there a brand name to the ones you use, or is it just a general type of product?

i'm not sure, shobha actually has its own website - shobhathreading.com - and you can buy them there, although my guess is that they're probably a bit more expensive than other websites. but, they're still fairly cheap, and last through washing after washing, so i would just go for it Smile

I went to thewww.leafa.com website. Is bamboo fiber the same thing as ayate?

I have seen sisal clothes at:

The Body Shop
http://www.thebodyshop.com/bodyshop/browse/sub_category.jsp?ingredientId=&selectedHowMany=22&categoryId=cat30010&viewAll=true&selectedSortBy=outOfStock%2CmarketingPriority

and Origins.

Then there is the standard body exfoliating bath cloth like The Body Shop offers:
http://www.thebodyshop.com/bodyshop/browse/product_detail.jsp?productId=prod150035&categoryId=cat30010

Any preferences?

i'm not sure about those others, but i really do love the ayate - i would just say to make sure you can throw it in the wash, because otherwise gross bacteria build up . . .

Ayate is woven from cactus fibers, the bamboo is made from bamboo. They are different. I did not see any ayate cloths on leafa.com.
