Is it worth the money? I just started using Lumiere VV MMU and love it. I'm just not sure what silk powder to use. Confused Thanks!

Um, you can make a DIY version for a lot cheaper or you can try and get it from Carekate (although she hasn't responded to a lot of requests lately, so I can't promise you you'll get through). There are versions from several companies like everyday minerals. I do like the Jurlique, but I don't find it necessary in addition to MMU -- in general its a nice, light oil absorber, so unless you have pretty oily skin, I don't know what it would really accomplish. The Jurlique is not a finshing powder in the sense that some of the MMU's have a very fine translucent powder you put over your MMU. Jurlique is just an oil absorber, it's white, and it's doesn't make your skin appear any differnt (exceot less shiny). I just use it during summer because it keeps away shine better than ordinary powder.

Hi Janie,

My biggest complaint about Jurlique [even though I've never used it myself] is that despite it's name, there is no silk in it!

There are threads on the DIY area that give my recipe for silk & pearl primer ... or you can PM me if you want to try some.

I agree with you. I was going to purchase this, but after looking at the ingredient list.. I was like, WHERE'S THE SILK??? Mad They should rename it to Jurlique Silky Powder or something!

I bought this in my first EDS order but haven't used it yet. I will have to see if I like it enough to keep using it in place of EDM Finishing Dust (and if I do, I will probably try Carekate's next time). I apply finishing powder underneath my MMU, to absorb oil.

I love the Jurlique Silk Dust over my SK-II Airtouch. I only use it on my nose and right around my nose where I tend to get oily during the day.

I like it because it does nothing to change the appearance of my skin, it just absorbs the oil. I don't want a powder that would ruin the 'airbrush' effect of the SK-II, I just want it to be invisible and absorb oil, which the Jurlique Silk Dust does perfectly.

As others have said, it is not a finishing powder, it is an oil absorber only.

It's actually very cheap in Australia so I guess price was not a concern to me about trying this product.

However, I find it only to be slightly more oil controlling than other loosepowders (I love shu uemura translucent loose powder..more natural and gives you velvty finish when jurlique tends to look a tad dry on the skin just after application).

Hi Janie:
Lumiere has a pure silk finishing powder. It comes in the translucent and two shades. I just ordered the silk ivory shade, I'll let you know how it is.

I use it under my MMU as a primer and to absorb oil. I can get very oily by midday and this cuts the shine a lot. I don't have to blot for a full 8 hours!

If you are oily skin, then it would be perfect for you. It makes my skin very dry unfortunately.

I do not like this powder. This powder has no special point, and every time after use, skin would turn dryer.

Besides, there is very light color with this powder. I need powder with radiant effect on face.

For me it is not worth, this product is good for oil skin, use it at the last step of your routine and it can make your skin looks smooth.
