My boyfriend and his two brothers both have enlarged oil glands on their faces. They look like flesh colored pimples which never go away.A dermatologist told the one brother they could either be popped or scrapped. I know they can't be popped because I've tried.Their is nothing to come out . It's like just a fleshy bump. Before you think how strange ,I actually see these all the time on people to a lesser degree.I actually have several on my areolas which I've tried to get rid of using compound W, which didn't work.
Any thoughts would be helpful. |

The ones on your aereola aren't oil bumps, they're normal. Nearly everyone, both male and female, has those little bumps around their nipples.
As for the boys, if there is nothing coming out when they're squeezed then they're not blocked oil glands. There is such a thing as colourless moles. That's probably what they are. If so they could be burnt off with dry ice like any other mole, or if they don't cause a problem, it's best to leave them alone. |

They are probably sebaceous hyperplasia, which are enlarged oil glands. They usually appear on people as they age into their 30s. I have them and had the dermatologist use a hyfrecator (electrodessication) on them. |

Thank you both. Did the procedure from the dermatologist leave a mark once it healed. |

It will not scab or leave a mark if you have an experienced dermatologist do it. They use a very fine needle tip and touch it just very lightly for a second or less. The first couple times the doctor did it and left no marks and they did go down. However I had a couple big ones and had to go in again. I couldn't get the doctor for the timeframe I wanted, had his PA do it, and she left the tip (which seemed to be too big) on too long and burned the spots, which did leave marks. So be VERY careful about who you have doing this. I've had other bad experiences with PAs, and will never have anybody except the dermatologist do procedures from now on. |
