Saw this Michael Moore flick last night. AMAZING! While Moore has admitted that this is his opinion of the present U.S. administration, and Bush's supporters may argue that this film is "hate propaganda", I left the theater appauled by what was shown. This, in my opinion, is a film that everyone should see.

Addendum: for a nice, heat-warming movie, see The Notebook Ryan Gosling is veddy, veddy nice-looking (but too young for me) Go to www.thenotebookmovie.com |

I concur, the film is amazing, as are all of Michael Moore's. Another great documentary out along the same lines is "Control Room." |

That's good to hear CM I liked his previous films and his books, appeals to my punkish roots, he's not as wordy as someone like Chomsky but he does get his point across very well and draws in people who would perhaps be put off by a more left-field artist.
I think it is released later in the year in the UK.
On the news last night was about another film maker who has upset McDonalds, I think it was called 'Supersize Me' he ate nothing but 3 Mcmeals a day, put on 28lbs and a load of other health problems. |

I haven't seen the film yet and I'm not American. But I've heard there are some very blatant factual mistakes in the film - such as the Iraqi oil pipeline issue. And if this is true, it's actually pretty irresponsible of him because most people will assume what they see is true and not go back and check. |

Actually, Moore hires 3 fact checkers, and an attorney to go over all his facts. As unbelievable as some of the facts are, he swears they are all true.
P.S. Noam Chomsky rocks!!! |

I dont' quite remember the details, as I said I DIDN'T see the movie. I heard he claimed one of the reasons Bush pushed for war had to do with an oil pipeline that was being built that he wanted to either protect or ensure was built. It was on CNN that the pipeline he referred to was built in 1998 or was an issue in 1998 - before Bush even came into power!
just passing along what I heard. |

Hmm...Moore can be considered extremely left-wing, and I suppose the entire truth lies somewhere in the middle. |

He loves Canada, apparently, and spent a lot of time in Windsor, Ontario while he was growing-up in Flint, Michigan (suburban Detroit).
As far as left-wing politics go, I would say that our own newly-elected Prime Minister Paul Martin is moderate, though not extreme left-wing. I don't think that Canada will ever have a right-wing, conservative gov't. again, though the recent election was close. Who knows what will happen in the U.K., though I understand that Mister Blair is not well-liked by his countrymen. When is the next election there? And Lord knows what will happen this November in the States
But who am I to write of elections? I didn't even get to the pre-polling station June 18th here, before leaving on the plane to Ontario. And obviously, I couldn't vote there, as I was out of my jurisdiction! Baaaad, bad girl! |
