| This thread is 2 yrs old, since then the price of the rollers have come down. Does anyone know which dermaroller is the best for home use for acne scars and wrinkles? Is the dr roller any good and dont you need steel needles for it to be effective?The before and after pics are stunning, however has anyone addressed the fact that the improvement may be temporary and due to swelling on the skin disquising and filling in the scar? |

Hello! I am new to EDS and new to this thread on dermarolling but I must have spent hours reading this... just ordered one off Ebay and I am so excited to use it! I am wondering if it might work with the following:
-atrophic scar from stitches done a decade ago
- atrophic "dent" from too much cortisone injected
- chicken pox mark from 2 decades ago
I plan on using it with Copper Peptides, Vitamin C serum, and Epiduo. Any help would be appreciated. =) |

| None of us are doctors here. Only way you will find out is, if you do a roll yourself. I know you can't do a roll on a keloid scar. |

Hi! I have been trying to read through this thread and it is me taking forever. Meanwhile, I have ordered a 1. mm and a .25 mm. I have some questions that I can't seem to find the answers to.
With the .25 for product penetration, when do I apply the product? Do I apply it before or after? Can I use it with either Retinol or Vitamin C? Also, will I bleed with a 1.mm and what is the typical recovery time with a 1.mm? I'm sorry. I know these questions have to be on here somewhere but 149 pages is a lot to weed through.

With the short needled rollers, I apply the product beforehand per istructions found online.
Some people will bleed with a 1mm and some won't. Whenever I've used the 1mm, my recovery time is short - basically 24 hours and you can cover your skin with makeup anyway.
I'd like to strongly suggest something. This long hread is helpful, but not nearly as helpful as the many articles you can find online. They contain current and detailed instructions and information. See the dermarolling thread at the top of the forum for updated information and links to *current* articles. . That is your best bet for guidance.

I' still going through pages of this thread, but can someone tell me if it's okey to roll at my age (I'm 31)? Is anyone my age rolling their face?
And also what size of needles should I used for collagen production under my eyes? I've read somewhere someone said that they used 1.5 size needles but I'm afraid that I will damage my eyes and go blind, if that's even possible.
I ordered 1.5 and .5 size of needles.

| I'm not sure if I should have started a new thread over this question. I am the vein queen. They are popping out everywhere, and my skin is so thin. I would like to roll my hands with a .5 (I have veins popping out) and some areas on my arms with a 1 or 1.5mm (I have veins popping out there, too). Has anyone dealt with this before? I don't want to puncture a vein. Thanks. |

Breezy, this is my issue too. I want to roll the crooks of my arms, where I have developed very crepey (and creepy  ) skin. However, I have a giant vein there...great for giving blood but not what I would like to see pierced by a dermaroller. It is hard to "travel" round them too. I guess you could take that white medical tape and carefully cover the veins with this if you don't have too many.You would still have to avoid it though as it could adhere to the roller. |

This is just a thought about the vein popping when rolling...if you put your hand/arm upright, the veins drain and are flat...at least mine are...if you roll with your hands in this position, would the small needles have a harder time trying to puncture the vein and if they did maybe the hole in the vein would close too quickly to let blood escape.

Thanks! That's a good thought. Most of mine flatten, but a few still pop out (I look like a body builder  ). I think I will try your suggestion when I do that area. I am working on my legs, stomach and face, and then I will tackle the arms and hands. |

Yes, it will definitely help an atrophic dent from a cortisone shot. I rolled mine and it was plumped back up in 5-6 wks. It was a while back and I posted about this somewhere in this enormous thread but i wouldn't know what page its on and I don't remember how often I did rolled. You might do a search on my name: mountaingirl ...and look through my postings. |

I would not use a 3 line roller for the whole face. Yes, its inefficient. |

OUCH! Not the 1.5 under the eyes. I would gently try the .5 but even tho' I've rolled MUCHO times, I never went right under the eye! |

You apply the product afterwards. Vit C will sting, and I wait until the next day for that. Retin A might be preferable right after the roll. You can bleed with a 1mm if you press hard, but I think you get more bang from your buck with a 1.5mm. Using your 1mm, if you do a hard roll, you will be a bit red and splotchy the next day, but within 48 hrs, it should be gone. Everyone's skin is different, but that has been my experience. |

I thought I read this once - in fact I went out and bought aloe.
After I roll with my 2.0 I use aloe... from CVS (it says its pure 100%)
It doesnt bother my skin - i just want to make sure it IS ok to use.

| Hi Mountaingirl! Thank you for your reply. I haven't tried the 1.mm yet because I got serious acne after the .25mm roll. I'm not sure why my skin reacted so badly. I never get breakouts like that. It's been almost a month since the two rolls and I still have a terrible case of the uglies. I want to try it at least one more time just to make sure it was the roll and not something else. |

No, but I have tiny red dots all over my face for a couple of days that I have to cover with makeup.
After the dots clear, my regular complexion returns.
It sure would be great to get some feedback from long term rollers. I have only been rolling for 4-5 mos, so too soon to tell.

I got some information on the Environ roller (the cosmetic one). Thought I would share in case anyone was interested.
There are 108 needles 18 row x 6 needles per row
The needles protrude 0.2mm. The needles are solid steel and are 0.3mm in length with a tapered point so that the section that goes into the skin is about 0.15 in diameter. |
