I think that Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate is stable and gentle (and thus somewhat less effective) than other forms of vitamin C. Heaps of Murad products contain Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate without even making claims that the particular poduct is a vitamin C product. So I'm not quite sure why Avalon makes such a big deal about it. Does the bottle tell you what % of vitamin C it has at all? Perhaps it's got a high concentration. Personally, I would not use anything less than 10% (I've been using 20%) and would also make sure that it comes in a dark bottle (it's sensitive to light).
I'm not sure if other people will agree with me on this but my stand on the vitamin C situation is that if I want an effective source of vit C then I will not buy anything that doesn't tell me the concentration. Full stop. Then I will also be looking at the type of vitamin C it has as well as the packaging.
