I have decided to post this as a new thread, advance profuse apologies to anyone who finds this offensive and thinks I shouldn't have.

I have purchased this in the past from Skin Actives who do not provide INCI name or product breakdown, even on customer request. They describe on their website thus: "Macrocystis pyrifera is a sea macroalgae rich in caragenaan, algin, minerals and many active chemicals. Fermentation makes the cell contents of this algae readily available to your skin, moisturizing it and providing the nutrients required to synthesize new components."

At The Herbarie, Angie's INCI for this product is "Lactobacillus/Kelp Ferment Filtrate".

More recently, I participated in Julie's SKB Group Buy, and I have to shout it from EDS' tree tops and mountain tops here, JULIE IS TOPS, ABSOLUTELY ROCKS!!!! She included a COA for me which stated the product name as Actiphyte (R) of Sea Kelp, and the INCI name as "Propylene Glycol (and) Water (and) Macrocystis Pyrifera Extract".

So I am very very confused. Are they all one and the same bio-fermented product? In the past (and the present) SA's Dr Hannah has made such a huge thing about the despiceability (sorry, is that really a word?) of propylene glycol.

I am hoping Nancy of NCN has a COA with INCI and product description for her Seakelp Bioferment which can shed some light on this.

They are all from the same source, Active Concepts..

Why the differences? your guess is as good as mine. You may want to try to contact Garden of Wisdom as Markey carries it too.

I got the following information from SkinInteractive Forum:

The result of the assay of SKB from SA is as follows:
linum usitatisimum
butylene glycol
fucus vesiculosus
unidentifiable yeast - trace

Linum usitatissimum is flax seed gel or flax seed oil. Fucus visculosus is algae extract.

One of the member suspect that butylene glycol and linum usitatisimum is used as a solvent. The same member suggested that it might not be required to list all ingredients if it's under certain percentage. But not sure.

Here's the link for the details:
http://skininteractive.proboards28.com/index.cgiboard=general&action=display&thread=1172225269

If anyone knows the listing requirements pls share, thanx!

Found an article that states "cosmetics not customarily distributed for retail sale" are exempt from INCI labeling requirement link below:
http://www.specialchem4cosmetics.com/services/articles.aspxid=1063&or=s24405_101_1063&q=INCI+labeling+
Another page on cosmetic labeling guide:
http://www.cfsan.fda.gov/~dms/coslab3.html#clg2

With this understanding SAS does not need to provide INCI, BUT having said that doesn't mean that they are free to go. SAS did suggested that the product can be "applied directly to your skin". Their customers did do so, therefore they should provide INCI labeling.

Anyway that maybe too far off the topic.
Now, another question: How come from Julie's has information that Proply glycol is present and the assay says butyle glycol. When the assay was done a while ago, so maybe the manufacture have changed formular??? Just a guess??? Question Don't know.

Ahhhhhhhh....So complicated Mad

I also saw the post on Skininteractive regarding the components of SKBio. I think the poster actually got a sample of SKBio analyzed in a lab or something. How wonderful...

I also purchased my SKBio from Julie's group-buy and I do think the texture is thicker than SAS's SKBio and I diluted it a little with some rose hydrosol.

I will not purchase SKBio from Dr. H's SAS again...even though it might be only me...I am going to boycott SAS actives...I do not encourage bad business practice Rolling Eyes

Sorry for being a newbie...

What is INCI? Also, what does everyone typically put their SKB in?
