My skin never had any problems and I don't have sensitive skin. In fact, my skin was praised for its beauty and clarity. I used all sorts of products: Neutrogena, L'Oreal, Cetaphil, Lancome, Johnson and Johnson, you name it and I never had problems.
I used Clinique 3 step and I got red patches, red hives and what appears to be zits (but actually I goggled it and it's just rashes). Since I stopped using it a week ago, my skin has slowly been getting better.
I'm wondering for people who have got similar problems from Clinique, did you eventually recover? And how long does it take to get completely better? I read on eMedicine that it should take about 3 weeks but I'm afraid I'm not going to get better. |

If it's an allergic reaction, what about a dose of over-the-counter antihistamines?
I get hives, itchy ezcema, sneezing, sinuses, watery eyes in spring almost every year, and for me there's nothin' like a good dose of Claratyne.
What are the ingredients in Clinique 3 Step anyway? Do you want to post them?
Also on average, skin cells turnover every 28 days, so depending on how deep the damage went, it may take that long |

Thanks for responding. You sound like a doctor hehehehe. Glad there's some expert advice on here.
The ingredient list is way, way too long on all 3 products for me to type out. I'll try to find it online and post it here.
Clinique 3 step sucks!
Ironically, I used their mild bar soap in high school and college and it was quite good. However, their liquid soap isn't good and their toner is worse. |

I would say if you are reacting like that...stop using it altogether!
Clinique 3 step is notorious for posing problems like this. I had huge dry patches and flakey skin on top of all the break-outs I got from it.
I immediately stopped it, but it took my face a couple months to recover...I'll never go back!
You should check the "Worst Product" threads...you'll find Clinique on there quite a bit! |

I did stop using it altogether.
I think there's enough of us who suffered from Clinique 3-step on this website for us to sue the company for emotional and monetary damage
Fortunately, I am getting visibly better everyday since I stopped using it. |

Your reaction sounds like dermatitis, which is allergic reaction - I have the same type of reaction to lots of things! Definitely stop using whatever caused it and take a break from anything that might be irritating like acids or harsh soaps or exfoliators - once a reaction starts up, it'll easily flare up again if given the chance. If you return to using whatever your skin was happiest with, it tends to diminish and go away. Mine ended up turning into a surface skin infection and I'm still suffering from irritation and those zit-like bumps after a month! I also ended up with dark spots from the eruptions, so I'm seeing a dermotologist next week. Good luck! |

Relax and let time undo what the Clinique did to your skin. In case you are worried make that trip to the Derma doc. |

As far as I know the Clinique-3-step-System is a bad word here on EDS. The toner was the worst culprit of them all. |

I also got allergic reaction to Clinique . I purchased it a few years ago, the whole set of cleansers, tonics and moisturizers. I got really bad reaction to this product. The only thing you could do is to take antihistamine (I usually take Claritin) and wait until it is gone. You can use some products that you are sure you will not react to. Don't try any new products and don't try aloe creams unless you are sure you are not reacting to them too. For some people aloe will calm their allergic skin, but I had bad experience with it. Try to drink a lot of water. Let us know when you will feel better.

Yeah....Clinique is known to be quite abrasive and harsh on the skin. Its also known to be more of an "entry" level type of product as far as department store brands go.
Hope your skin clears up soon! |

I thought clinique 3-step is fully of alchol in toner that makes skin dry and easily irritate. I've used toner from this line and I really hate it. |

I used the Skin type III 3-step and it was incredibly harsh on my skin, I think I still suffer some skin sensitivities almost 3 years since I stopped using the range. I would recommend treating the skin with natural calming products soon after your reaction, I left it for far too long! You can try aloe vera gel or green tea spritzs or commercial products like Topix Replenix Green Tea serum. |

Clinique clarifying lotion or whatever its called STEP 2 could strip paint. Its horrible stuff.
I love clinique make up though but when it comes to skincare i like natural ingredients that i can pronounce. |

Clinique 3-step is horrible stuff! I don't know a single person who has ever used it that didn't have problems with it - a girl I know who had really oily skin ended up being even oilier after using it because it just stripped her skin. My friend the beauty expert told me that there is acetone in the toner (the one for oily skin - not sure if that's true or not, but I'd be inclined to believe it). Their stuff is full of nasty, cheap chemicals - try something more natural and/or gentle on your skin! |

YEP, Me too. I broke out in itching Hives/bumps large growths, whatever you want to call it. I kept trying to use the "horrible" three step program, because the gal that helped me sounded so knowledgeable and I swore it would get better. After 3 weeks of pain and hiding under my sheets, calling in sick etc, I returned all the products and my face starting clearing up almost immediately. I don't know how this company stays in business and I let people know what happened to me, when they start telling me about their experiences. |

Hi girls. I know you all wrote back in 06, but I'm having the same problem as well now too. And I just started using the product 2 weeks ago and since yesterday, the hives have started! I returned everything back yesterday and they were also trying to sell me some other clinique B.S. to try to get rid of my hives, but I was like NO! I just wanna return it and get my money back. That stuff is so expensive and it doesn't even work and the clean and clear 3-step stuff I was using before helped better and is at a better price! I feel so ugly. X'(!!
Once you girls got the hives and stopped using the clinique B.S., did any of you go back to using the other products that helped your face before? And did you girls still put your foundation and make-up on everyday? If I could a reply back, that would be awesome.
Thanks, SaliZ. |
