Hi everyone,

I just recently came across this brand, but haven't had a chance to try any of the products yet. Akamuti is a UK-based natural and organic skincare company supporting fair trade. Their products do look very interesting and are very reasonably priced. I've tried searching for reviews on both EDS and MUA, but couldn't find any. So, I'm just wondering if anyone has tried their products or heard anything of them. Any comments would be much appreciated. TIA Smile

I have tried a few of their products; the cleanser caused an allergic reaction, the body butters were far too greasy and solid for my liking and the black soap was just like normal soap, but not nice smelling. Hope this helps.

smoothskin,

Thanks for your reply.

It's such a shame you didn't have a very good experience with their products. Their products just seem so pure and simple.

Can you recommend a natural/organic skincare line that you like better?

I bought coconut oil, african black soap, raspberry seed oil from them.

All lovely products, superfast delivery, nice packaging.

Tha black soap is a wonderful product - it's used in africa to wash babies hair - that gives you an idea of how gentle it is.

When my scalp is irritated I use it to wash my hair.

I will definitely use them again.

They might work very well for you though, I prefer Lavera and Barefoot Botanicals for all natural brands.

I've been eyeing their liquid African black soap as I'm trying to avoid body washes with SLS in them. Which one did you get? Did you get a solid or liquid one? Their body moisturizers also look really good.

I've tried a few of their things, including the black soap. It didn't do much for me, but I gave a chunk to a friend with extremely sensitive skin and she loved it! I've also tried the cleanser and the rose & green tea face cream. The cleanser is lovely, it smells nice and leaves my skin soft. I find cream cleansers a bit of a fuss to wash off though, so I won't buy it again. The face cream is really more of a balm and far too rich for my combination skin. All in all I'd say that while the products I've tried weren't for me, Akamuti is definitely worth a try.

Are you referring to Akamuti's Sweet Orange Cleanser? Does it clean well? Does it leave a film on your skin?

Hi! I bought the solid one. It is a very very soft bar, and very organic looking. It looks like an interesting stone. nice thing to have by the bath if you like stones and shells and stuff. ( which I do!) The thing is,you have to keep it dry or it will disintegrate into mush on the wet side. Like if it's sitting in a little puddle of water in a soap dish the underside will melt more than a regular bar of soap. My children love this bar of soap because they think it's unrecognisable as a bar of soap, and therefore unique and special!

That's the one, yes. It takes off foundation etc. very well, but since I don't use it daily I can't say anything about its deep cleansing abilities. It doesn't leave a film, just soft skin, but then I do use a wet washcloth to remove the cream, not just water.

I'm really surprised Akamuti isn't popular among EDS members at all. Their products just seem so pure and cheap as well!

I'm only interested in their body care line though as I'm more than happy with my face care products.

I know what you mean - I was very taken by the website and thought I had discovered a real gem. It was the orange cleanser that caused an allergic reaction for me, and the body products I tried were just too solid in texture.

Everything on their website just looks so good! Plus I really like the idea of fair trade. Can you tell me what body products you have tried? Their body oils sound quite nice.

I had the shea butter and olive cream and one of the creams based on cocoa butter. I also had the liquid black soap which would be my top pick of the products, but I have since moved on to using Ilcsi's black soap which I prefer.

I copletely agree that it seems like such a nice company as well, with great customer service.

I just checked out Ilcsi and a lot of their products seem very similar to those of Eminence!

I'll be relocating to the UK in the next few months, so I'm just looking for inexpensive organic/natural products that are available in the UK. Any recommendations?

Well spotted! Ilcsi is very similar to Eminence, but in my opinion better. There are some discussions on this forum of which brand came first of the two, and I believe Ilcsi is the original handmade Hungarian skin care company.
