Yep - I have the flu Until the virus realises that I have had a flu shot this year and consequently that it has no right to set up camp in my body I guess I'm stuck with it.
Oddly, the first thing that went though my mind when I realised that my loving parents decided to pass this little gem of a virus onto me, was the realisation that I should have bought shares in Kleenex and also that my nose will look like hell for the next few days (at least!).
I don't have sensitive skin but my nose always looks terrible when I have a cold. Red, swollen and then, at some stage, flaky. But this time around I decided that, instead of surrendering and waiting for the red flaky nose to eventuate, I was going to fight the evil forces of tissues (can you tell I have a temperature? ).
I was using those nice Aloe Vera tissues until last night (when I ran out) and now I'm at the mercy of normal tissues (I just finished a box of those too ). Long story short, I have been using Decleor Harmonie Essentielle and Decleor Lip Balm around my nose since yesterday afternoon when it started to get pinkish. I'm using both because I'm lazy and I'm just reaching for whichever is closest at the time. I've been using the Lip Balm at night (because it's on my night stand) and the Essentielle all day today. I think I might have dabbed this stuff on my nose about 15-20 times today. Has it paid off!? YES it has! My nose is slightly swollen but not flaky and not red. Better still, no stinging when I apply either of the two products. I'm only pointing it out because I remember using normal moisturisers previously and remember them stinging when applied to my irritated nose.
So, even though I feel like crap and my head feels like it's about to explode, I don't look half bad all things considered!
I'm sure there are other products out there that can work their magic as well. What products keep you guys looking decent when you're sick?
I'm off to breathe in some eucalyptus steam, grab a hot cup of peppermint tea, dab some Decleor on my nose and head off to bed. Night all!

good old sudocreme! LOL! it is a truely miracle cure for red noses, mild acne, eczema and acid burnt faces It's cheap and I would gues it would work as a sunblock too given the amount of zinc oxide it has, assuming you don't mind looking like marilyn manson (which I don't!) |

Hi Mabsy....
Sorry to hear you're ill ...hope you get better soon...
I have found Decleor Essential Balm really good for sore noses, slight burns, or small cuts.
It's especially good for noses coz it smells heavenly!! (Not sure that you can actually smell anything when you've got the flu though!!)
Take care of yourself!

Thanks, taking a sickie tomorrow and staying in bed I'm actually feeling even worse today but at least my nose is still doing well
I've gone for the Decleor Essential Balm tonight instead of the Harmonie Essentielle. This cold/flu/virus/"whatever evil thing" is making my skin all blotchy and ick! I'm hoping that the balm will make things right. If all else fails there's always the Valmont Renewing Pack, though I wouldn't waste it on a day when I'm staying at home
Niki - too right! I love the smell of Essential Balm usually but can't smell a thing at the moment |

Taking a lot of Vitamin C supplments would help a lot. Every time I sense that I have a flu coming, I would take 3 240mg Vic C each time, 3 times a day. A lot of times the flu would be under control the next day and won't develop into anything. This is a secret passed by beauty expert. |
