I have what appears to be excema on the palms of my hand. I have red blotches covering most of my palms, lots of lines and my fingertips feel as if they have been burnt when I put pressure on them, almost like pins and needles. I'm under the care of a dermatologist, but am not finding any of the topical creams he prescribed helpful.Anyhow I imagine that using my fingertips and hands to apply manual exfoliants with is making the situation worse, especially when I'm using the Epidermx exfoliant. I did try using surgical gloves once to protect my hands but it wasn't very effective has anyone any ideas of how to apply without exfoliating my fingertips anymore at the same time!

I totally feel for you, Sel, as I get excema too. What about a soft, soft facial brush? hmm I think the only worry would be to use the brush very lightly and delicately so as not to double exfoliate...

Sel, can't help you with applying exfoliants, but have you tried derma e's Psorzema cream for your eczema? www.dermae.net You can buy it at the web site, or at health food stores. I imagine most stores that carry it have free samples for you to try first. That's what I did for my son and it worked wonders for him.

Sel, I wouldn't exfoliate those red blotches as you never know, but it might lead to scars. I find that un-refined shea butter helps calm and heal my exzema a lot. Maybe you should try it. Smile

Hi Sel,

I may be misinterpreting your message...but I *believe* you are trying to apply exfoliants but the eczema on your hands hurt because of it...is that right?

If this is the case, then we're in the same boat. I've recently developed eczema on my fingertips and on certain fingers (go figure) and it stings when I exfoliate - especially when I use glycolic exfoliates. I've used Obagi's Action moisturizer and it has REALLY REALLY helped. The cracks and redness have gone down significantly and its not as itchy.
