Whenever I'm in the sun (not tanning or anything, just walking around Los Angeles), I will get slightly tanned and notice that I get more clogged pores or small whiteheads. Is this a temporary reaction of my skin, since it's not used to being in the sun? Will the breakouts gradually decline as my skin produces more melanin and adjusts to the trauma? The sun exposure i'm talking about is just general walking to the car, store, etc., not hours under the sun or anything.
Also, I stopped using my retinols, but maybe I'm still sensitive to the sun? |

Do you wear sunscreen anyhow? Do you use Vit C?
Could be you're sensitive to pollutants in the air too....
Some Vit C also have antioxidants in them. Could help... |

Heat cause inflammation. It happens to me as well, just avoid the sun exposure and you'll be fine, no need to stop the Retinol use. |

I think you still need some sunscreen in lighter texture. Retino is fine, but only using it in the evening. |

Hmmmm...could be polymorphous light eruption (PMLE) - some sort of allergic reaction to the sun. It gets a little better once the skin has become accustomed to the sun. |

I agree with all members posts but not all. If you want to use retinal at night, that is perfectly okay. Just be sure that you are using a good sunblock. I use Skinceuticals UV Defense and so far, it is not the cause of my breakouts.
Personally, I think you need to increase your exfoliation and I agree with Sonya Dakar that it is okay to put oily (specifically Omega oil) on oily skin. It does not clog pores but help balance it out. With her acne formulation, she added lavender and I think it is supposed to help with the acne.
I agree that your skin in more inflamed. I can't really suggest an excellent brand (I've used Sonya Dakar Green Tea mask and was very happy with it) to help calm your skin. Maybe another member can suggest other excellent name brands to help your skin calm down because of the heat.
I've read somewhere that Ole Henrikson has a good product that help calm your skin after you had a breakout. Maybe I made a mistake, maybe it was Mario Badasco (sp?). I will look into it and let you know if you are still interested.
BTW, I think over time, your skin may become more sensitive. Try to avoid scented skincare products. |

I forgot to add about the vitamin C. I was told and also read that Cellex-C is perfect for humid/hot days and for oily skin. I am using Vivier, both are excellent. They just have two different types of textures. |
