Hi everybody. This is something I've been wondering but have had a hard time finding an answer about. My naturopath said glass is the safest to drink from, even better than Naglene. So I carry around a little glass bottle in my bag. But when I want to keep my water warm or cold then I need something else.
Sometimes I wonder about pouring my hot liquid into the stainless steel thermos and then drinking it hours later.
Does anyone know anything about this?
Thanks, Michele |

I also thought a thermos was lined with glass. I remember breaking the lining of one. If I'm wrong maybe someone elso knows. |

Maybe there is glass in between. Also, the old time thermoses did have a glass lining but I think those were done away with because they broke so easily. But for the ones I have now, the inside, the part touching to liquid, is stainless steel for sure. I can see it. |

I think it is safe it the liquid is not acidic (according to my health care professional, who is also a Ph.D. in biochem).

I am lost, what are we trying to avoid here? I get perhaps bacteria, but isn't a dishwasher hot enough to stop that, my home glasses are glass, so is that good or bad? |

I was just wondering that, Mel. I get aluminum but not stainless steel. |

Oh no not bacteria, I don't even worry about the germie thing much. It's just regarding all the talk about this and that 'leeching' into the water. And I do think a lot of that may be hype.
But I was noticing that the water I'm drinking from the thermos has that metallic taste sometimes. More when it's hot than cold.
It sounds like if anything stainless is better than aluminum and I'll just be careful about the acidic thing. I was sometimes using the thermos for my morning warm water with lemon if I was in a hurry but that might not be the best idea. |
