I weigh 116 lbs and work damn hard to maintain it. On that planet I would weigh close to 200 lbs...uh, no thanks. I'll stay right here! |

This is sooo cool! It's kinda sad to think in our lifetime they more than likely (unless they suddenly learned some new fabulous technology) won't be able to travel such great distances in a reasonable amount of time to really find out what this planet (or others outside our solar system) could be like. I love astronomy! When I was younger I wanted to be an astronomer, but with my math skills it would have been way too far out of reach. |

Yeah, I am still excited by the news. I hope they can send some astronauts to this planet and check it out. The fact that there might be water on there is so encouraging. I always thought how could it be that earth is the only planet with lives on it. |

Shouldn't we sort out the planet we live on first before we go wrecking another one? |

That sounds so cool. I would love to live in a day and age when we are able to visit other planets and civilizations just like on Star Trek. I think that once we straighten out our act here on earth and learn to become more civil towards and respectful of our fellow "earthlings" that we will achieve the knowledge and capabilities to travel to far off places to make "contact" with other "life forms" as well. Hopefully this happens in my lifetime but at the rate we're going I doubt it. One can only hope..... Just imagine the vacation possibilites!!! |

I came across this yesterday too, at first I was really skeptical. They have to wait around til 2020 until they can build a telescope powerful enough to examine the surface terrain. Another known risk for the planet is high levels of radiation because it is so close to a dwarf star. I seriously they don't start investing billions for an expedition when there are so many things we can do right here on terra firma. |

Exactly! Plus, I doubt EDS would deliver there.
Seriously, I'm a science fiction fanatic and it's amazing when it becomes science fact. |
