I've been using this for about 2 weeks now and I must say I'm in LOOOVE! This is a very lightweight foundation that offers medium to heavy coverage. I use so little of it that I still have some of my sample left that the SA made for me. This gives me a very polished look, a glowy finish similar to the finish of LM's Mineral Foundation (as a lot of you are now familiar) and covers well with only a small amount of product so the 1.7oz tube will last forever, plus it's buildable on problem areas. It NEVER enhances my flakies and seriously - NO foundation, liquid, cream, gel, powder or mineral has EVER been able to accomplish that. You can't see my flakies even close up with this foundation. The trick the SA told me was to STIPPLE this on with a sponge - do not use a brush and do NOT blend downwards or upwards or however you usually apply liquid/cream/gel foundations, just STIPPLE. And WOW, honestly I was quite suspicious of whether "stippling" would blend the foundation properly or give me enough coverage but I now believe that this is the best technique I've learned ever. The stippling allows you to spread very well with just the right amount of coverage, the foundation itself just blends right in. I can see how if you apply it like regular foundation it will probably start off with a sheer coverage and require layering but the stippling gives you the needed coverage in one step. Plus if you need more in problem areas the stippling allows for an easier concentrated application. Usually if I happen to have a cyst I will put some mineral on top and that gives me a perfect concealing effect, so I don't even use concealer with this foundation. But I do use finishing powder on top of it to set as a preference. I don't get oilier with this compared to when I'm using MMU and the foundation lasts all day with the same wonderful finish. No caking at all even after a long day and some oil breakthrough. No breakouts at all either! Usually with any foundation even MMU sometimes I find an extra pimple after a long day of makeup which seems normal to me (not that the makeup was breaking me out but the fact that I had a long day of makeup on me probably ended in one or 2 clogged pores). But I haven't experienced this at all with the silk creme! That really is a first and I think it's due to the fact I really only need a very small amount of it so my skin isn't as suffocated. Sometimes I feel this lets my skin breathe better than MMU because I'd have to layer MMU for the needed coverage which might end up suffocating my skin anyway. I highly recommend and it MAY possibly be HG for me (still too early to say though, I'm reluctant to give any foundation HG status). For those of you who use MMU on a daily basis this is the PERFECT alternative on those days when MMU just doesn't work or on days where you want an extra polished look (plus you can always layer MMU over it). I might still use MMU on a daily basis myself just for the purity of it but I honestly do prefer this to LM's MMU or any other foundation/MMU I've ever used.

I use Creme Ivory in this, I'm about MAC NC20, fair to light with fair olive skintones. This corresponds pretty well with LM's Real Sand as when I compared my samples the colors looked almost the same and on my skin it seems to be the same as well. I think Rose Ivory would be equivalent to Tendre Rose. Creme Ivory is still slightly darker than my skintone and a tad too peachy. I don't think this will work for those with fair skin.

SOLD! To the pudoodle-ish lady in the corner!

Seriously, though - WOW! Could it be?? Something as glorious and flawless as the LM MMU? I'm an NC15, sormuimui and I can go with either tender rose or the sand in the LM MMU. You make this sound impossible to resist trying (sigh) so I'm definitely going to give it a go! Let us know if you suddenly start to break out!

I use creme ivory in this too! Yes...I love this stuff. I agree with everything you said. Have you tried the secret brightening powder? Its really nice for setting under eye concealer.

I'm a huge LM fan.

Hmmmm...perfect timing of this review as I was eyeing this, along with the LM MMU, along with the LM moisturizing foundation. I didn't have luck with the LM tinted moisturizer, but these really did look lovely.

Has anyone tried both the moisturizing and the silk cream and can compare for me? Laughing

I have to get my arse to a Sephora - the closest one that carries LM is in the next state. I was so excited when I heard that a Sephora went up in my state, then I trucked over there only to find that they don't carry LM in their store. Serves me right for not calling first.

I was looking for a new foundation (an alternative to MMU) and was reading a bunch of reviews on MUA and of course, this peaked my interest. Then Olivia, you started raving about LM Mineral and this so I HAD to try it and I love it sooo much! I haven't tried a lot of foundations as I'm not particularly in love with using foundation and haven't really started using it daily until my skin started wreaking havoc (before I just use concealer and set it with some powder foundation). I'm also the type to use one foundation at a time so I'm really really glad I haven't yet found a foundation I hate. And am extra thrilled to find such a great foundation so I don't even have to go around experimenting others. You actually peaked my interest in LM. I was looking at the Secret Brightening powder as well but I don't use under eye concealer so I didn't see the use of the powder - it doesn't seem like it's used full face.

Do you use LM primer with your MMU/silk creme? Or do you just do silk creme as concealer with MMU on top?

Pudoodles: After 2 weeks I think I'm safe to say that I DON'T think I'm going to break out with this, because usually if I do I see it within a few days if not immediately. I also find that this foundation doesn't aggravate my acne either, you know how sometimes you zit can get bigger after a long day of makeup or suddenly come to head? Well I don't have that problem with LM at all, my existing pimples are healing the same way they were in the morning when I woke up even after a full day of makeup!

You can get it at either Holt Renfrew or Sephora.

seriously you guys, this is getting out of control. now I want the silk creme foundation and the stick foundation, AND I DON'T EVEN USUALLY WEAR FOUNDATION.
but it looks so good! I love the tinted moisturizer and the MMU so much, I can only imagine that a heavier coverage foundation should also be in my arsenal, right?
as far as breaking out goes, I think LM is very consistent about the ingredients used from product to product, so I've found that I can use pretty much that whole line without worrying that foundation X has some wacky ingredient that the others do not that will break me out.
although I have to say the ingredients in LM products are not up to the standards of many EDS members...very chemical. I don't care. they work.
and on a final note of this rant, you should all try the secret camouflage. it is a fantastic blemish concealor. that is all.

Square One - Sephora does not carry LM. Holt Renfrew at Sherway does. I am still waiting for LM MMU in Sand. It was out of stock about a week ago. You girls are killing me...LOL. Now I must try the silk foundation too...and all the "secret" products of LM Smile

FoxyMama, I panicked after your post.

On line, Sephora does appear to carry LM.

On this forum's recommendation, I still hope to try her MMU (I don't usually wear MMU). Smile

Laughing Waffle - you make me laugh! It is nuts, isn't it?! Question for you (or anyone else)I've have the LM regular concealer (in the little pot)...I've always been curious about the secret camouflage but worry that it might be really dry and chalky looking...Would you recommend using it around the eyes or would it be best to keep it for covering blemishes or (in my case) hideous age spots...
thanks!

pudoooodly-doo, the secret camouflage is definitely not for around the eyes -- it is a thick concentrated concealer. it's hard to explain, but it is mainly for small, hard to cover blemishes or marks. It is too thick to use over larger areas, but it is the only concealor I've ever used that fully conceals a bright red mark without looking like a spot of concealor. It is amazing with the MMU over it. give it a try at a counter sometime -- I wouldn't buy it online because it comes in a compact with a base color and an undertone color that you blend, and they are too hard to see online -- there are more color options than the other LM products.

Sounds like this might be the answer for my age spots! I currently use the Amazing Cosmetics concealer for my little spots...it is VERY good but you can't custom blend anything - It is one shade and while it wears well- it doesn't last the full day - touch-ups are necessary (for me, anyway)...Looks like I have another "I gotta have" product...thanks, Waffle Embarassed Laughing

This sounds great! I just recently bought the LM MMU and LOVE it, however, I still need to use regular liquid foundation under my eyes to help cover dark circles (layered with concealer on top). The MMU under my eyes just doesn't look as nice. I think THIS might be a great product for that area, especially if it's med-heavy coverage.

Thanks for the review!!

For all those Aussies whose lemming has been jump started by sormuimui, I asked at DJ and they won't be getting this until the later half of the year, if this year at all. No MMU and not the Silken foundation (I presume) Crying or Very sad .

To all those wondering about the Secret Camouflage - yes it can work as an undereye concealer. All you need to do is mix it with a little bit of your eye cream to create a creamier finish and then dust a powder on top. The LM brightening powder works wonderfully with it.

To sormuimui - what brush do you use to stipple the foundation on?

As soon as my TM is done, I want to try either this or the stick. Now I just can't decide.

Yes, but does the stick foundation allow you to do the stippling thing? The idea of a foundation that does not pick up the flakies is making me jump for joy.

I use a sponge. The SA told me not to use a brush with this foundation but I am tempted to try using it with my 187. Although I can see how the stippling would work much better with a sponge so I have not really tried it with a brush yet.

Although I haven't tried LM's foundation stick I must say that I have Chantecaille's and to me it's more like a concealer than a foundation. It's a lot thicker (as you can imagine the stick-form would be) and in that sense it is a lot dryer on and it feels heavier. Honestly I would NEVER use this as a full face foundation, especially on my acne-prone skin. That said, I do like it very much as a concealer and it WILL last forever. I can also see it as a wonderful product for undereye concealing (it has been compared on MUA with CdP's concealer stick). But then again LM might have a wonderful product different from other brands, I wouldn't know. But that's just my own experience on the stick-form type of foundation.

no, see, I want BOTH!! although now I'm thinking maybe I want the flawless fix pencil instead of the stick -- I was thinking of using the stick as a concealor to carry in the purse because true concealors are too hard to use without brushes and all that, so I figured a stick foundtion would be a good alternative that would blend easier on the go. But now that I know that there is a pencil concealor that apparently works well....hmmmm....

also, can any others of you give some color approximations of the silk creme? there are four with ivory in the name!!! if everyone who has tried it could give the color they are using, along with their corresponding colors in other LM products/MAC/whatever that would be awesome. sorumuimui did a great job but I'm wondering about beige ivory and bamboo ivory because I'm just a touch darker than she is.

I actually did not like this foundation and ended up returning it. The color was too orangey on me. Also, it seemed to exaggerate rougher areas of my skin, such as my forehead. The texture was shiney and not nice on me. I have mostly dry skin too.

I do like regular Laura Mercier Oil Free foundation though!
