I really consider a good sunscreen to be my best beauty product (well, it's a toss up between sunscreen and mascara LOL).

Anyway, I keep trying to find the best one and yesterday I read advice in a magazine stating that sunscreen should be the last thing you apply to your face, *after* makeup...now how do you do that if it's a lotion based sunscreen? Confused

I have a bottle of Dermo Peds spray, so I guess I could try spritzing over my face after my makeup is applied, see how that goes.

Another question...I also read that you need to let this sunscreen sink in for 30 minutes before it becomes effective...ok, so if I apply sunscreen in the AM and wait 30 minutes, then apply makeup - I'll never get to work on time! Embarassed

Ideas/thoughts/suggestions for applying sunscreen, before or after? how long to let it sit before adding another makeup item?

Thanks! BF

Disregard what that article says Confused sunscreen goes on 'after' any serum/moisturisers you use and 'before' makeup!

And chemical sunscreens need to sink in for 1/2 hr before going out in the sun to fully protect skin. I usually only wait 10 min after applying and then put foundation on but i wont go out in the sun till the half hour has passed.

HTH:)

I've been getting so desperate in getting my "new, improved" skin/makeup routine done before leaving work that I've also considered using my hair blow dryer on the cool setting to try to hurry up the sunscreen LOL

Is it true that with chemical sunscreens that the sun actually has to pass through a bit of your skin before it hits the sunscreen (since it soaks in)?

Is it the reason people said chemical sunscreen harms our skin?

I don't get this. Why will the sun pass thru our skin b4 it hits the sunscreen if using a chemical sunscreen? Isn't the sunscreen sitting on top of our skin? Question

Also I heard that for chemical sunscreen, the effect will wear off after a few hrs. So u have to reapply whereas for a physical sunscreen, u don't have to?

Thats correct barefootgirl. Sunscreen IS the last thing you apply and this is how you do it. Buy your foundation if you use it, with spf IN IT already. You must cover the whole face though. If you wear powder, it must be spf 15 as well and you have to apply it liberally.

I don't like the idea of wearing heavy makeup in the summer, so I just use a tinted moisturzer with spf 15. Under that a light moisturizer.
