Note: This is not a review for the Microplane Foot Orb
I have that one too but I found the their fine kitchen grater superior in terms of ease of use and results.
I've tried everything: Kerasal and other foot lotions, Diamencels, foot rasps, blades etc. This is by far the product that yields the best results. The size is large enough so it does the job quickly and effectively. I was going to use mine to grate horseradish for my roast beef but I love it for my feet alot more. I also love that it's pretty hard to nick yourself, which sometimes happens with the foot blades.
I got mine at one of those stores that sell clothes and kitchen ware in Arizona but I forgot where. I've never seen it in canada but if you're ever in the US, try looking one in the kitchen section.
I'm mad at myself for spending what I did on the Diamencel. |

I use the Microplane Foot Orb, but I remember when I first heard about it and googled it, there was a big thread about it on a huge cooking forum. Apparently, the ladies there had been using their Microplane graters on their feet for quite some time, and this is what inspired Micrplane to make the Foot Orb and paddle. It really is the same product, just packaged differently.
I loved my Microplane at first, but I must admit the love is fading now. It's still an excellent product, I just feel like it no longer has quite the "wow" effect on my feet. Perhaps there isn't as much hard skin on my feet to be "grated," though, looking at them, I doubt that is it. I suspect that despite the testimonials that Microplane retains it's sharpness forever, mine has become somewhat dull. |

I have the microplane foot orb but I found the blades on the grater were better suited for my feet. It's shaped differently.
I'm sure your blades dulled. Nothing retains sharpness forever. Maybe the wow factor may return if you bought a new one?
I feel the same way as the Diamencel. It wore out on me then I found Microplane, which required alot less manual labor. |

| that really is hilarious, I have the microplane lemon zester and it is really good at what it does, makes me cringe to imagine zesting your feet, glad it's not the same one!! eww, foot zest. |

What a stroke of genius, Angelina!
I emailed the Microplane people some weeks ago, asking if they could direct me to Canadian retailers who carried the foot orb, but did not receive a reply. Guess they just weren't interested in my business. (I, too, have tried just about every foot paddle, file, sanding block, gizmo, etc., but just wasn't satisfied with the job they did.)

That is hilarious. Who in their right mind uses a grater for food these days right? It's 2007 and women today have better things to do with their time. I want the most votes for the most helpful review!
Pinky, I've ordered stuff from Amazon and my purchases never came with tax hassles. Maybe I was lucky but you may consider picking up stuff from there if you can't find it in Canada. |

I loved this thread and the funniest thing was that I was shopping in Ikea today and when I saw the graters I immediately thought of foot tools....then I come home tonight and see this thread.....I knew something was telling me to buy that cute grater today! LOL
I just had to go on amazon and give the review an A! |

is this best used on dry skin (like the Diamancel)?
I recently lost my Diamancel while on vacation ... I read these posts and thought "what the heck -- I think I'll just order one of these instead -- much less expensive" so I've got one coming in the mail!
