They probably had complaints that samples were old, diluted or fake or something.
I agree, though, it was a good way of being able to try perfumes without splashing out big time. Rotten shame. |

Australia Post refuses to accept perfumes for posting since the terrorist threat so ebay sellers in Australia cannot send perfume by post.
I know that some sellers still do so but I have been informed by postal workers that they now scan everything and knows if it's perfume. They are penalties for this breach as I think perfume is listed as a dangerous item now |

Apparently a few perfume houses complained and probably threatened lawsuits...decants are now considered "counterfeit" even though ebay is filled to the brim with fake Coach bags, LV bags, the works!
These decants were fine. One of the gals who got shut down was a fabulous, honest seller. I've ordered from her several times and her decants have been nothing but amazing.
Apparently Serge Lutens was one company who complained.
I'll be going through those other two forums if I want a decant. I feel bad for those honest sellers who were just helping people experience different fragrances. |

I think you can still buy them off ebay.co.uk. I was hoping to decant some of my vintage tabac blond to cover the huge customs and handling charges I had to pay. I am sure some people will want to have a sniff of the old stuff to see what it was like, though I expect collectors will be shocked at me opening an old bottle |

Well, it does smell different to new perfume, the top note is kind of citrussy in comparison if you know what I mean? the middle and base notes are very similar but really deeper and warmer than new stuff. It smells like old old well worn leather and warm sexy skin ...
I love Tabac Blond, but the old stuff is just out of this world! I am actually seriously reconsidering selling any of it on now because it is just too hard to get hold of the old stuff and this is obviously a really good bottle. Also, if folk get to smell the old stuff and like me prefer it to the new stuff, then I'm not just pitting my bids against anal collectors who won't open the bottle but people who will open it! |
