I live in Sacramento and this place is horrible for allergies. All the mediciation I take never works and it makes me drowsy.
All it takes is a simple walk from my house to my driveway and I'm sneezing!
I wish I could stay inside all day! |

Hi Pika.
I am just about to order some black cumin seed oil, which has a reputation for being very helpful for alleviating allergies. If you do a search on it you will find some great information about it, in the Candida Recovery thread.
I have been taking MSM and Vit C lately, which has helped enormously with my allergy to my cat. It has meant that I dont need to take antihistamines! there is a long and informative thread here about MSM. Search and you will find it!
Good Luck! |

I have tried every antihistamine out there, but Arius has worked the best for me. |

Echinacea-Golden Seal Whole Herb Complex. Highly effective, inexpensive and works fast (usually within an hour for me). I get Spring Valley brand from Wal-Mart.

Yeah ... allergies have "bloomed" around here too. I'm generally on antihistamines of some sort from May through to the first frost!
However, early in the season I usually take quite a lot of Vitamin C ... a natural antihistamine. I find that it works quite well for the early allergies.
By the time I need a 24 hour antihistamine, I still take more Vitamin C ... but I also take whatever is working for me.
I recently learned something interesting about Arius just as a matter of interest.
It's outrageously expensive in Canada ... and I asked the pharmacist if there wasn't a generic for it. [My son had been prescribed the Arius but without a drug plan, he was finding it too expensive to continue.] It turns out that there isn't yet ... and a generic is still a few years off.
HOWEVER, apparently when you take Claritin, it breaks down into 3 separate elements. Arius is one of those elements. So ... the pharmacist said that for some people, Claritin worked just as well as Arius ... and there IS a generic for Claritin.
So far the generic Claritin is working for my son ... and I've found that the generic one is fine for me as well.
I tried Arius last year but wasn't overly impressed. It didn't work any better ... or any worse for me than any of the others.
Of course, over the season, I find that I have to switch from one brand to another. I seem to get "immune" to one ... but if I switch between brands I'm usually okay.
