Where in Taiwan are you going to be staying? I lived in Tainan for about 4 months teaching ESL and Aromatherapy/Holstic Therapies a few years ago. If you need ideas around there I can help. If you like to camp I can recommend a great place too.

Weather in September is still pretty hot and muggy. I arrived that month and was welcomed by a typhoon. Funny thing is when I left I was given a goodbye with an earthquake. Ah good times. Rolling Eyes

i will be there for 7D6N, intending to spend 3D in Taipei and maybe going to either Hua Lian or TaiNa.

but i am not familar with either of the places. what are the MUST-GO places in TaiNa? anything that i can do there?

i will be going with another gf of mine. most likely we will be staying in Rainbow hotel in Taipei when we are there. but its still pending, because we feel like trying out other hotel.

Ooh, Hualien is the gateway to the Taroko Gorge--one of the most beautiful places in the world! Fabulous food in Taiwan--every kind of Asian restaurant you can imagine. And the National Palace Museum in Taipei is incredible--they have so much incredible art that they could rotate their collection for twenty years and still not repeat anything! Taiwan is so beautiful, enjoy...

Also, there are great dressmakers there who will do custom tailoring. I still have a jacket I had made twenty five years ago.

I like the coffee shops and book shops.
For shopping, you could take a walk at the "101" - the tallest building there.
Wish you a wonderful trip!

Hey babe!
I went in early sep last year!
Rainy season. View at Taipei 101 was ok cos we managed to go on a sunny day. But the ferris wheel was horrible cos it was raining!

Good thing is, it's a good time to shop for summer clothes cos they are phasing out the summer ones to bring in the winter clothings! Bad Grin

Hi I live in Taipei one third of the year. September is still very hot, although not as bad as August. It is ALWAYS humid in Taipei because Taipei is located in a valley and there isn't a natural path for airflow.

Night markets are fun but watch for pick pockets. A lot of my friends who go for the first time get diarrhea so just be careful because there are lots of yummy food stalls which are ok for the locals but maybe not so OK for foreigners.

Ding Tai Fung is probably one of the most famous eateries in Taipei. They serve dumplings.

Also try MOS Burgers, a chain of hand made Japanese style burgers made from rice. The Jap-style fried chicken is especially good.

Have fun!

Sakana ~ any recommendation on low budget hotels? and do you recommend taking the express bus or cab from the airport to hotel?
