I just bought a portable A/C from Costco.com since they're having a sale on the Windchaser 10000 BTU portable A/C (which is also a dehumidifier) for only $270 ($80 off now through 5/27/07). I so can't wait to get this for my bedroom which gets very little airflow since it's an addition, and I should replace my central A/C as I can see last summer the airflow just won't reach way back to that new room which is the size of 14ftx16ft.

I am praying that this portable A/C will work well, so I can turn off the A/C at night when everyone sleeps in my bedroom only.

If anyone has been looking for a portable A/C and wants to give this a try, you should buy one now since with the sale, it is so cheap. I've been looking for one since last summer. Shipping is $52.40, but heck, that's still worth it. I saw they got a portable A/C for sale at the costco store, and it's $470. Plus I could not even lift it without its coming down and crashing on to me.

Costco is the best place to buy things. If Costco has it I would not even try to look fo another brand. Have a cool summer

You're right! I know that if this A/C won't work out, I can always return it to any Costco store. This is why I'm so excited. I hated sweating in bed, so hopefully this A/C will keep me cool and get a good night sleep. Very Happy

Good purchase BKKgirl! We got a portable AC last summer and wouldn't be without one now (or at least until we move out of this condo and can have "real" AC). Our top floor gets so hot in the summer that it makes it hard to sleep and this really helped...in fact we've already used it twice this year. Hope it works for you, too! Very Happy

Thank you! I was so excited to get the shipping notification email from Costco on Friday. WOOHOO!! I hope it works since I don't want to get a new central air yet. That would cost $4K-$5K. Yikes!

Oh, really? What brand did you get? Was it also the Windchaser 10000 BTUs? I bought an A/C from them last year, too, but I didn't realize it was not the portable one, and I had to vent it or it wouldn't work. And I didn't vent it, so it made the room hot instead of cold. LOL Then my bf told me I would have to vent it by making a hole in my wall and put the vent outside. Forget it! Too much hassle. I returned it and got my money back. Now with the portable one I just bought, there's a vent kit that comes with the unit, and I hope it will be easy to install through the window.
